Upcoming Art Show & Sale to aid CMI

The opening reception of the Ridgewood Art Institute’s Annual Holiday Art Show and Sale will be held on Sunday, Nov. 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 12 East Glen Avenue in Ridgewood. The exhibit will continue through Dec. 19. The Holiday Art Show & Sale features traditional artwork submitted by the professional and amateur members of the Ridgewood Art Institute. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of paintings will be donated to Community Meals Inc., the private, non-profit ‘meals on wheels’ volunteer-based organization serving clients in Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Midland Park, Ho-Ho-Kus, Waldwick, Allendale, and part of Saddle River. CMI’s mission is to provide nutritious meals to individuals who are unable to shop or cook for themselves due to age or disability. CMI is the only non-profit in home meal service in these communities and depends on donated funds to provide subsidized (often free) meals to those with financial need and to keep meals affordable for all its clients.
election ballot. Farricker was high vote getter with 2356 votes. Celeste garnered 2139 votes in his first bid for public office. Bjork, seeking the one year left on Mayor Thomas Giordano’s term, received 2278 votes. Democrats Richard Drury and Andrew Frey, seeking the two three-year terms, and Allison Welker, running for the mayor’s unexpired term, received 1687, 1573 and 1622 votes, respectively. “Waldwick moves forward because of the residents of this great borough... Waldwick faces challenges which can only be addressed by working together. But I know we can take on any challenge because we are Waldwick, simply because we have the greatest volunteers, residents who continue to better Waldwick, and borough employees who strive to make Waldwick better,” commented Celeste after the vote. Celeste, 23, is a lifelong Waldwick resident. He is a graduate of Bergen Catholic High School and will receive a bachelor of arts from Ramapo College this fall. A former Republican Committeeman from District 2, he is a sales consultant at CollTech LLC, Wyckoff. He is a former Waldwick youth recreation soccer referee and is a CCD volunteer teacher. Farricker, 61, is a 27-year resident. He has served on the council since 2006 and served as the liaison to the board of education and the chamber of commerce. He currently chairs the council’s Public Works Committee. He holds a degree in business/economics from William Paterson University and has been an underwriter with Western World Insurance Group since 1976. An Army veteran, he is a member of the VFW and the American Legion and serves on the board of directors of the WBSA. He coached softball and soccer at the recreational level and served as a mentor to the St. Luke’s youth group. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a baseball/softball umpire for over 25 years. He and his wife have two daughters.
