This meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Chamber of Commerce meets The Ho-Ho-Kus Chamber of Commerce will meet at the Ho-Ho-Kus train station on Tuesday, Nov. 13. The session will begin at 6:15 p.m. Meeting schedule announced The Ho-Ho-Kus Borough Council will hold one meeting during the month of November. A combined work session and public session will be held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27. This meeting will be held at borough hall, 333 Warren Avenue, Ho-Ho-Kus. Vietnam War program announced Stanley Kober, Vietnam veteran and commander of Washington Elm VFW Post 192 (Ridgewood/Ho-Ho-Kus), will present “You Just Had to Be There: Vietnam, February 1968 to February 1969” on Saturday, Nov. 17. Kober’s program will feature recollections, facts, and photos. The event will be held at 2 p.m. in the auditorium of the Ridgewood Public Library located at 125 North Maple Avenue in Ridgewood. This program is one of many events planned around the country to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War. Foundation holds Fall Wine Tasting The Ho-Ho-Kus Education Foundation will host a “Fall Harvest Wine Tasting” on Friday, Nov. 16 from 7 to 10 p.m. at The Bacari Grill in Washington Township. This casual event will feature international wines provided by Carlo Russo’s Wine and Spirit World and hors d’oeuvres. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Ho-HoKus Public School. Wine Pairing Dinner announced The Ho-Ho-Kus Historical Association will host a Wine Pairing Dinner at St. Eve’s on Tuesday, Nov. 13. The event will feature a menu prepared by Chef Steven Christianson served with wines chosen by Chuck Russo of Carl Russo’s Wine and Spirit. The menu will include an appetizer, fish and meat courses, and dessert. A vegan menu is available upon request. The dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. at 611 North Maple Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus. Story time program expanded The Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library, located at 91 Warren Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus, has added a 3:15 p.m. Thursday session to its children’s story time program. This new story time will be held in addition to the programs scheduled on Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 11:45 a.m. The program is recommended for children ages three and up. Club plans Bridge Marathon The Ho-Ho-Kus Woman’s Club invites bridge players to take part in the club’s Bridge Marathon. Games are held at the Ho-Ho-Kus train station on the second Monday of each month through May. The $25 entry fee supports the club’s many charities. Master plan information sought Local residents are being asked for their assistance with the history element of the Ho-Ho-Kus Master Plan, which is now being updated. This edition is a revision of the 1975 “Ho-Ho-Kus Hostesses” cookbook. The updated version contains favorite recipes, some of which are over 100 years old, from residents, past and present U.S. Presidents, the Ho-Ho-Kus Inn, and the Hermitage. Library news The Worth Pinkham Memorial Library in Ho-Ho-Kus has announced patrons may now download books to their Kindle from home via www.beateaudio.org. Valid library cards are required. All instructions are on the website. The library has a number of language CDs, DVDs, and flash drives for patrons who wish to learn a new language. Programs for adults are available in English, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Latin, Chinese, and Italian. For children, there are programs in English, Korean, Japanese, Italian, German, Spanish, and French. The Muzzy BBC language DVDs for children are available in Spanish, ESL, German, French, Chinese, and Italian. The library also has Muzzy Interactive Language, Games and Exercises on CD, in Spanish and French. Children may also borrow “Speak Spanish with Dora and Diego.” Soon to be available for borrowing will be “Shmoop,” a computer-based tutorial for the SAT, PSAT, ACT, or AP exams.
