(continued from Restaurant page) dowdy to modern, and is adept at portraying Toula as a real character rather than a caricature. Corbett is pleasant as her suitor. The combo pack contains Blu-ray and DVD versions; a digital copy; the 30-minute retrospective featurette, “A Look Back at ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding,’” which reunites Vardalos and Corbett; deleted scenes; and audio commentary with Vardalos, Corbett, and director Joel Zwick. “The Queen of Versailles” (Magnolia Home Entertainment) is a documentary that follows magnate David Siegel and wife Jackie as they set about building the largest private residence in America, patterned after the Palace of Versailles. Jackie is a 43-year-old former beauty queen with an engineering background. David, 74, is the father of her seven children and the founder, president, and chief executive of Westgate Resorts, at the time the largest privately owned time-share enterprise in the world. Unhappy with their 26,000-square-foot home, the Siegels begin upgrading to a 90,000-square-foot mansion with 10 kitchens, more than 30 baths, and a closet bigger than many master bedrooms. Then the 2008 financial crisis hit. Photographer and documentary director Lauren Green-
field struck gold with the downturn in the economy and the Siegels’ fortunes. The Siegels allowed her to continue filming as the story changed from a rich couple building an impossibly huge mansion to that same couple adjusting their luxurious lifestyle to the realities of a sinking economy. “The Queen of Versailles” is available in Bluray and DVD formats. Extras had not been announced at press time. “Stephen Sondheim’s Company” (Image Entertainment), set among the fast-paced crowd of Manhattan, is a contemporary tale of Bobby, a 35-year-old bachelor unable to commit to a steady relationship. Women want him and men want to be him. In a series of vignettes involving the five married couples who are his best friends, and his three girlfriends, “Company” reveals Bobby’s character through such Broadway standards as “Another Hundred People,” “You Could Drive a Person Crazy,” “The Ladies Who Lunch,” “Not Getting Married,” and “Being Alive.” This concert version was performed for four sold-out evenings in 2011 with the New York Philharmonic. The all-star cast includes Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Hendricks, Craig Bierko, Stephen Colbert, Jon Cryer, Martha Plimpton, and Patti LuPone. “Company” was one of the first musicals to deal with adult themes and relationships. The original Broadway production opened in April 1970, and two Broadway revivals followed in 1995 and 2006. The 2011 concert version contained in this Blu-ray release was shown in select movie theaters on June 15, 2011. There are no extras.
