November 7, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 21 Waldwick Watch Winter Concert Series to begin The Waldwick Band will open its 2012-13 Winter Season with a concert on Sunday, Nov. 11. The 3 p.m. concert will be held at the Village School located at 100 West Prospect Avenue in Waldwick. The concert is free and open to the public. Clarinetist Natalie McCarter, band director for the Ramapo Central School District, will be the featured soloist. McCarter is a freelance musician who performs with the Ridgewood Symphony Orchestra, The Ridgewood Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Orchestra, and other area chamber groups. A graduate of Ithaca College, she was chosen as the principal clarinetist for the school’s symphony and chamber orchestras. She has studied under Sarah Beaty, Richard Faria, and Michael Galvan. For her first appearance as soloist with the band, she will perform Mozart’s “Clarinet Concerto.” Under the baton of Music Director Edmund A. Moderacki, the band will open the program with its 2012-13 signature piece, George Gershwin’s “Strike up the Band” in an arrangement by Warren Barker. Moderacki will conduct the ensemble in Gustav Holst’s “First Suite in E Flat,” “Waltzes from Der Rosenkavalier” by Richard Strauss, and selections from Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess.” The band will also perform Harold Walter’s “Civil War Suite,” and marches by Al Sweet, Karl King, R.B. Historian’s program rescheduled The Waldwick Public Library has rescheduled its program “Along the North Jersey Rapid Transit,” to Thursday, Nov. 15. Regional historian Phil Jaeger will present his a slide lecture at 7:30 p.m. Step back a century in time, when Bergen County was relatively undeveloped, to take a “ride” on this trolley, which served East Paterson, Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Ho-Ho-Kus, Waldwick, Allendale, Ramsey, Mahwah, and Suffern, New York from 1910-28. Then view the trolley route as it appears today. Jaeger, a retired mathematics teacher, is the author of two books: “Montclair: A Postcard Guide to its Past” and “Cedar Grove.” He is a trustee of the Cedar Grove Historical Society and a former trustee of the Passaic County Historical Society. Rizzotti exhibits in Upper Saddle River ‘Sunset’ ‘Farm House in Tuscany’ Waldwick resident Bob Rizzotti will exhibit his original oil paintings at the Upper Saddle River Library during the month of November. His works include paintings of landscapes, sunrises, and sunsets from all over the world and will be available for sale. Portions of the sales will benefit the Upper Saddle River Library. For others, the fee is $25. Rabies Clinic announced The Waldwick Board of Health and Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission will hold a free Rabies Clinic on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The clinic will take place at the department of public works, 19 Industrial Park in Waldwick. Pets of residents from area municipalities are welcome. Cats and dogs ages three to 11 months, and animals over one year old who have not received the vaccine, will require re-vaccination in one year. The state health department encourages owners of animals whose vaccinations will expire in 2013 to have their pets vaccinated this year to ensure a good overlap in immunity.
