Sarene Osenga, nee Miller, of North Haledon, formerly of Midland Park, died May 22. She was 100. She was a lifelong member of Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, serving as church secretary for 25 years, and a member of the Ruth Circle, the Hallelujah Choral Ensemble, and the Senior Crusaders. At the Holland Home, she was a member of the choir and took part in the “Warm up America” program. She is survived by her son Raymond J. Osenga, grandson Ryan J. Osenga and his wife Brittney, and her daughter-in-law Ann Osenga, all of New Mexico. She is also survived by her sister Marjorie De Jong, nieces Deb Steyling and Dyan Fischer, and many other nieces and nephews. Sytzko, nee Seitz of Mahwah, formerly of Carlstadt and Fair Lawn, died May 16. She was 97. She is survived by her husband Victor W. Sytzko, and her son Victor A. Sytzko of Fair Lawn. He was a graduate of Ridgewood High School and Lafayette College with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a project engineer/ manager and later vice president of Beach Electric Company, Inc. until 1995. After retiring, he worked as a consultant for PSE&G. He was a member of IBEW Union 52, Arcola Country Club and Brookside Racquet Club. He was survived by his wife June (nee Draesel) of Saddle River, his children Barbara Batten, Daniel Talbot, and Nancy Muldowney, and five grandchildren. Arrangements were made by C.C. Ho-Ho-Kus Jottings Book Fair fundraiser set The Ho-Ho-Kus Home and School Association will host its 2012 Book Fair fundraiser on Tuesday, June 5 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, Route 17 South in Paramus. A percentage of the proceeds will benefit all students at the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School. Residents are encouraged to attend, shop, and support the school, the teachers, and the students. Events planned for the fundraiser include a story time for children in preschool through second grade at 4 p.m. and a special performance by the Ho-Ho-Kus Jazz Band at 7:30 p.m. A voucher, required for purchases, may be obtained from store cashiers the day of the event. Chamber plans ‘A Taste of Ho-Ho-Kus’ Plans are now in progress for “A Taste of Ho-Ho-Kus,” a June 7 evening out sponsored by the Ho-Ho-Kus Chamber of Commerce. From 6 to 9:30 p.m., participants are invited to sample fine wines and signature dishes from several restaurants, and will have the opportunity visit various downtown businesses. Tickets are $15 per person and $25 per couple when purchased in advance. On the day of the event, tickets will be $20 per person and $35 per couple. Tickets are available from participating merchants. Those who attend are encouraged to park at the Ho-HoKus commuter parking lot and walk into town.
