When the corps decided to undertake the renovation project, the refrigerator was the only working appliance in the training room kitchen. Tyler said the plumbing and electrical systems were updated, and the rug in the meeting room, which had become stained over time, was removed. The room is used for ambulance corps meetings, training, and events. While the room has been used by other local groups as a meeting space for approximately 10 years, the corps has decided to return to its original situation and reserve the training room for corps members. The ambulance corps has become more active in recent years, and is pushing to get new volunteers involved. That effort involves hosting more in-house training sessions, which are generally better attended that those held at other venues. The training room is also used during blood drives and for the hazmat and blood borne pathogens classes for borough employees. Tyler said the training room will still be used to accommodate the overflow from the municipal court. The corps allows people who are awaiting their cases to sit in (continued on page 21) Ambulance Corps Captain Carol Tyler shows off the new kitchen in the training room. by Jennifer Crusco The Ho-Ho-Kus Ambulance Corps has refurbished its training room with a new hardwood floor and a stylish modern kitchen that features tile floors, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and self-closing cabinets and drawers. The walls of the general meeting space and the kitchen have also been repainted. Ho-Ho-Kus Ambulance Corps Captain Carol Tyler coordinated the renovation project, which was funded by a donation. Tyler explained that a former resident’s estate included a generous donation to the ambulance corps. That donation has been used to cover various expenses, and a portion was invested for future use. A certificate of deposit that was purchased with the donated funds was recently redeemed and
