Residents are asked to bundle papers in stacks no more than eight inches high and leave the stacks at the curb the night before the collection. Readers to discuss ‘Cutting for Stone’ The Waldwick Library Book Club will discuss “Cutting for Stone” by Abraham Verghese on Thursday, May 10 at 7:15 p.m. Focusing on the world of medicine, this novel follows a man on a mythic quest to find his father. Register for fall soccer Registration for the 2012 Waldwick Soccer Association’s fall recreational soccer program is under way. The deadline to register is May 15. The association welcomes Waldwick residents from incoming kindergarteners through high school students. Players in grades five and above participate in a travel program affiliated with the Northwest Bergen Soccer Association. Children in kindergarten through grade four are part of the in-town league. Ambulance corps seeks volunteers The Waldwick Ambulance Corps is seeking new members to continue to provide residents with the highest quality service at no charge to patients and their families. Anyone interested in volunteering to assist those in need may stop by the Waldwick Ambulance Building to pick up an application or visit www.waldwickems.com. Since 1952, the Waldwick Ambulance Corps has been a privately run, volunteer service that depends upon volunteers for the emergency care of Waldwick’s residents. Pool registrations accepted The Borough of Waldwick is now accepting resident for the 2012 pool season. Registration forms are available at www.waldwicknj.org under the “Municipal Forms” heading. Waldwick’s facility includes a main pool, a wading pool, a concession stand, and a new swing set for young patrons. The pool, which is located at Hopper Avenue and West Prospect Street, is open from noon to 8 p.m. weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends. The fees for Waldwick and Midland Park residents are $55 for adults, $50 for children and $45 for seniors. Rates for non residents are $150 for adults age 18 and up and $125 for children ages four to 17. Children who are three years old or younger are admitted free. Association plans Golf Outing The Waldwick Baseball/Softball Association will host its Second Annual WBSA Golf Outing fundraiser on Wednesday, May 16 at the Black Bear Golf Course. A portion of the proceeds will benefit two scholarships that will awarded to graduating members of the high school’s baseball and softball teams in recognition of their achievements in sports and academics. Operation Reassurance available The Waldwick Police Department’s Operation Reassurance program is one of the most successful in the area. This program is open to all Waldwick residents who are age 55 and older. The program requires the participant to call police headquarters by a prearranged time each day. If the individual fails to call, a communications officer will try to make contact with that person. If there is no answer, a police officer will be dispatched to check on the welfare of that person. Career group finds temporary space The Waldwick chapter of Neighbors Helping Neigh- bors, a free peer volunteer support group for people who are actively looking for work, will meet at Saint Luke’s Church, 340 North Franklin Turnpike in Ho-Ho-Kus, on Monday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. until the building project at the Waldwick Public Library has been completed. Meetings will take place in the conference room near the church office. Neighbors Helping Neighbors welcomes anyone in career transition: recent college graduates, unemployed, under-employed, those re-entering the job market, struggling entrepreneurs, and retirees looking for part-time work.
