Parade participants sought Allendale Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10181 will sponsor Allendale’s Memorial Day Parade and services on Monday, May 28. The parade will assemble at Tallman Place and Myrtle Avenue beginning at 9 a.m. with step off at 9:30 a.m. The parade will march through downtown Allendale and conclude at Memorial Park, where services will be conducted. Residents may pick up an American flag early in the
day at Bank of America. The bank has once again donated the flags. After the services, refreshments will be served by the Allendale Fire Department volunteers at the firehouse. CERT offers ‘hurricane prep’ The Allendale Community Emergency Response Team will conduct a “Hurricane Season Prep Information Session” on May 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Allendale Ambu-
lance Corps Building, 26 Arcadia Road. The public is invited to learn how to prepare in the event of a hurricane. Knowing what actions need to be taken can reduce the effects of this type of disaster. ARC seeks sponsors for 5K The Allendale Recreation Commission will sponsor a 5K Run on Sunday, May 20. The 9 a.m. event will start at Crestwood Lake’s Red Barn. The USATF certified course runs around the ball fields, through Northern Highlands, back through Crestwood Lake, and ends at the Red Barn. The day’s highlights will include a one-mile fun run and 50-yard dash for younger children. Allendale merchants are invited to participate by setting up a table/booth at the Red Barn at no charge. Sponsors are also needed. For $250, a business sponsor will receive its name/logo on the back of the T-shirt, on a thank you poster at the event, and on the ARC website. Board of trustees to meet The Lee Memorial Library Board of Trustees will meet May 16 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Quilt Room at the library located at 500 West Crescent Avenue in Allendale. Newcomers group hosts events The Allendale Newcomers Club provides a great way for new and “not so new” borough residents to meet people and get to know Allendale. Upcoming events for May are: Ladies Night Out at Blue Moon in Wyckoff on May 16 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. The event will include beer, wine, sangria, and appetizers. Men’s Night Out will host a Bourbon and BBQ on Thursday, May 31 from 7 to 10 p.m. This Texas barbecue and professionally hosted bourbon tasting will be held in a member’s back yard. A chef will share the secrets of barbecue cooking and Kevin Loser of Fedway will offer a sampling of bourbons from a variety of distilleries. The cost to attend is $50.
