We hope that 2012 has been a good year for your business thus far. The Waldwick Chamber of Commerce is constantly striving to increase its visibility in the community by the events we host and the membership we support. If you haven’t already joined the Waldwick Chamber of Commerce, we encourage you to check it out. Our door is always open. We meet once a month for a complimentary breakfast and to share ideas about our businesses and related events. In order to have a strong economy, business owners need to network. A recent online poll encouraged business owners to get involved with their local chamber of commerce in order to increase their bottom line. Networking within a chamber is not about what the chamber can do for you, but rather what you can do for the chamber. Sharing what you know with others will help open the door for business opportunities. It’s about giving rather than receiving, which is key to growing your business in this economy. The Waldwick Chamber of Commerce continues to make great strides within the community it serves. As our membership grows so do the events we produce. Please mark your calendar for the 5 th Annual 5K Run/1 Mile Walk scheduled for Sunday, May 6th. The event attracts runners and walkers from all over Bergen County and beyond. Last year
we raised over $9,000, had 378 people cross the finish line, 43 sponsors and a wonderful representation of volunteers. Presently, we have close to 55 sponsors, $13,000 raised (does not include race applications) and our proceeds will help benefit three local heart charities. We are also dedicating the 5K this year in memory of one of Waldwick’s own - fallen soldier, Marine SSG. Joseph D’Augustine. Not only are we dedicating the race in his name but also adding his initials JD Semper Fi to the left sleeve of our runners’ shirts. As always we thank the police department, fire department, DPW, BOE, the ambulance corps, CERT team, the mayor and council and the many volunteers for their continued support. As a chamber of commerce, our main goal is to support local business. If you have a business or know someone who does, tell them about us. Please visit our newly-designed website to sign up at any time - www.waldwickchamber.com. The Waldwick Chamber of Commerce continues to implement new programs and exciting events throughout the year. Please let us know what your business is doing so we can help you promote it. What one business can do is great, but what we can do collectively is amazing! Remember the heart of the community will stay strong if you shop local!! Happy Spring! Christine Figliuolo
