‘One Box-One Soldier’ project gathers needed supplies
“Imagine being in the prime of your life and deployed to Afghanistan. Your family and friends are far away, and your life is constantly in danger. This is what our troops are living every day.” With this message, members of American Legion Post 57, Waldwick, have energized the community into the “One Box-One Soldier” project. “Our goal is to make a difference by sending our soldiers care packages to show them we care,” said Jan Toms, who with her husband, Steve, has
been the driving force behind the ambitious program for the past three years. Thus far more than 1,200 boxes including toiletries, snacks, magazines, cards and letters have been sent out through their efforts. According to Nancy Nielsen, the Auxiliary president, (continued on page 13)
