March 28, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 19 Allendale Notebook Good Friday Devotional Walk set On Good Friday, April 6, the Allendale Community of Churches invites the public to its annual Good Friday Worship Service, “The Way of the Christ’s Passion” devotional walk at noon. This year’s walk will begin outside at Guardian Angel Catholic Church at 320 Franklin Turnpike and end in the sanctuary of Archer United Methodist Church at 37 East Allendale Avenue. Participating churches include Archer United Methodist, Calvary Lutheran, Guardian Angel Roman Catholic, Highlands Presbyterian, Trinity Episcopal, and Zion Lutheran in Saddle River. Patterned after the Stations of the Cross, a procession of people, led by a large, roughly-hewn cross, will follow a prescribed route through Allendale. Along the route, the procession will stop at 14 locations for scripture reading and prayer. Many of the lay readers and leaders of this event are youths from each congregation. The 14 stations will recall the events of Christ’s suffering and death and their contemporary implications. The Allendale Clergy Association invites all people, regardless of whether they are members of a church community, to participate. At the last station, a monetary offering to benefit the Center for Food Action will be accepted.
