Integrated Preschool to host Open House The Allendale School District will continue to host IPS, an Integrated Preschool Program, in 2012-13. IPS differs from other preschools in that it incorporates the education of general education preschoolers with preschoolers with special needs. The IPS teacher is certified in both general and special education. Students with special needs are placed in the program through an evaluation process performed by the Office of Special Services. The Allendale Public School District will offer two levels of IPS programming: a program for three-year-olds and a program for four-year-olds. Children must be toilet trained.
The three-year-olds will meet from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Students must be three by Oct. 1, 2012. The program for four-year-olds will meet from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Students must be four by Oct. 1, 2012. All children in the program will attend five half-days per week. Class size is expected to be held at a maximum of 12 students per program. Tuition for general education children is $3,200 for the 10-month IPS program. Applications for general education students, which will be available after the Open House, may be found at www.allendaleschoolsnj.com. Deadline for submission is 3 p.m. on March 23. Students will be determined by lottery if the number of applications exceeds the available spaces. Parents will be notified of acceptance into the programs by March 30. Transportation services are not provided to general education students. A birth certificate, copy of immunizations, a medical exam, and proof of Allendale residency will be required of those students admitted to the program. Please note that students enrolled in the three-year-old program in 2012-13 will be offered first choice for enrollment in the four-year-old program in 2013-14.
