Seniors host varied events Photographer and author Doug Goodell will present a slide show about Costa Rica to the Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors on March 27. Goodell’s new book, “Nature’s Paradise,” features the wildlife, and exquisite beauty in Costa Rica. On April 11, the group will travel to Ehrhardt’s Waterfront in Hawley, Pennsylvania, for its Tribute to Grand Ole Opry. The event includes the show and lunch. Nationally syndicated editorial cartoonist Jimmy Margulies will share his favorite cartoons on April 24. On May 22, space historian Joe Lenox will present “One Small Step for Man, One Giant Leap for Mankind.” The Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors group meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in the Hermitage Education Building at 335 Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus. Easter Egg Hunt and Parade set The Contemporary Club of Ho-Ho-Kus will sponsor a parade featuring the Easter Bunny and a Ho-Ho-Kus fire truck on Saturday, March 31 at 8:45 a.m. The parade will begin at borough hall, 333 Warren Avenue, and proceed to the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School on Lloyd Road, where refreshments will be served. The day’s activities include an Easter Egg Hunt, a jellybean counting contest, games, face painting, and photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny. Participants are encouraged to bring a basket. In the event of inclement weather, events will be held in the multi-purpose room at 9 a.m. Participants are required to wear rubber-soled shoes in the school. There is no cost. Learn about shrub pruning Bob Malgieri of Borst Landscape will offer “Pruning Pointers to Make You Look like a Pro” at the Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library, 91 Warren Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus, on

Dessert Card Party set The Woman’s Club of Ho-Ho-Kus will host its annual Spring Fundraiser and Dessert Card Party on March 30 at noon at the Waldwick United Methodist Church, 25 Franklin Turnpike in Waldwick. The event will feature homemade desserts, coffee and tea, and prizes. Tickets are $15. Call Barbara at (201) 444-9389. Scouts hold Food Drive, Pancake Breakfast Ho-Ho-Kus Cub Pack 54 will be distributing bags and flyers on March 24 and 25 for the Scouting for Food drive to benefit the Center for Food Action in Mahwah. Residents are asked to fill the bags with non-perishable food items and leave them in a visible location by 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 31. Cubs will pick up the bags before 11 a.m. On March 31, the troop will host its annual Pancake Breakfast at the Community Church of Ho-Ho-Kus at 400 Warren Avenue. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 11 a.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children under age 12. Scouting for Food donations will be accepted at this event. Library trustees plan meeting The Board of Trustees for the Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library will meet March 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the library located at 91 Warren Avenue. The public is welcome. Local students honored The following students have been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2011 semester at their respective college or university: Christopher M. Forst of Siena College; Stephanie Heath and Justin Lefebvre, both of William Paterson University; and Claire Zilenziger of Furman University. Joint meeting set for March 20 The Ho-Ho-Kus Borough Council and the Ho-Ho-Kus Board of Education will hold a joint meeting at Ho-HoKus Borough Hall, 333 Warren Avenue, on March 20. The municipal budget and the school budget will both be discussed at the 7:30 p.m. meeting, which will also be a com-
bined work session and public session for the council. The borough has cancelled its regularly-scheduled public session, which would have been held on March 27. Football and cheerleading registration set The Ho-Ho-Kus/Saddle River Football Cheerleading Association will hold in-person registration for the fall 2012 season from 10 a.m. to noon on March 17 at the HoHo-Kus Public School, 70 Lloyd Road in Ho-Ho-Kus. Registration will be held in the multi-purpose room. Children from Ho-Ho-Kus and Saddle River who will be entering kindergarten through grade eight as of September 2012 are eligible to participate. A non-contact flag football program is open to children in kindergarten through grade two. Children in grades one through eight may register for cheerleading, and students in grades three though eight may register for tackle football. Register for soccer The Ho-Ho-Kus Saddle River Recreational Soccer Association will hold in-person registration for the fall 2012 season on March 17 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School multi-purpose room at 70 Lloyd Road in HoHo-Kus. Information and registration forms are available online at www.HHKSRsoccer.com. Ho-Ho-Kus and Saddle River children who will be entering grades one through 12 in September are eligible. An instructional program for children in grades one and two will be held on Saturday mornings for boys and on Sunday afternoons for girls. Youths in grades three through eight are invited to join the recreational program. This group will practice on weekdays and have games on the weekends. A co-ed high school recreational program for students in grades nine through 12 will practice on Fridays and play games on Sunday afternoons. The association is seeking new board members.
