The Single World, which will meet on Thursdays from March 29 through May 14, will offer assistance for those experiencing the transition of separation, divorce, or the loss of a relationship. Topics for discussion will center on forming new relationships, dating, goals, finances, and priorities. Healing Hearts, a support group for adults who are separated, divorced, or experiencing the end of a relationship, will address the issues of grief, anger, depression, self love, loneliness, fear, anxiety, self esteem, and pathways to growth. Sessions will be held on Mondays from 7:30 to 9 p.m. beginning March 26. The church is located at 271 West Saddle River Road in Upper Saddle River. Bowden to present weekend series Zion Lutheran Church in Saddle River will host Weekend with Professor H.W. Bowden on March 17 and 18 in the parish house. On Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m., Professor Bowden will present “Establishing a Common Christianity for the Roman Empire.” His discussion will include the “old and new” Christianity in the age of reform and counter reform. Dinner will be included. The Sunday program will address: What 21st century American Lutherans have in common with Christians of the Roman Empire and European Reformations. Brunch will be included. Football and cheerleading registration set The Ho-Ho-Kus/Saddle River Football Cheerleading Association will hold in-person registration for the fall 2012 season from 10 a.m. to noon on March 10 and 17 at the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School, 70 Lloyd Road in Ho-HoKus. Registration will be held in the multi-purpose room. Children from Ho-Ho-Kus and Saddle River who will be entering kindergarten through grade eight as of September 2012 are eligible to participate. A non-contact flag football program is open to children in kindergarten through grade two. Children in grades one through eight may register for cheerleading, and students in grades three though eight are invited to register for tackle football. Bailey P.T. will address the parents of children with special needs in Ramsey and Saddle River on March 12 at 7:30 p.m. Certified in yoga for the special child practitioner, Bailey will discuss how yoga can help improve flexibility and strength, reduce stress, improve behavior, and focus attention. This centuries-old practice reflects real and proven scientific concepts, and has recently grown in popularity for children with special needs. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and bring either a yoga mat or soft towel. The group will meet at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 55 Wyckoff Avenue in Ramsey. Local artist and teacher Bart D’Andrea will present a slide show of Picasso’s work at 7:30 p.m. D’Andrea has a master’s in fine arts and is a working artist, lecturer, and teacher at Bergen Community College. Book groups announce meetings Alan Bennett’s “The Uncommon Reader” will be the topic of discussion at the Coffee Talk book group on March 8 at 10:30 a.m. The group meets on the second Thursday of the month at the Upper Saddle River Library, 245 Lake Street. Copies of the novel may be picked up at the circulation desk. Novels at Night will meet at the library on March 14. Author Dorothy Wickenden will join in via Skype as the group discusses “Nothing Daunted” at 7:30 p.m. Artist presents origami workshop On March 13, join Pearl River, New York artist Yoko Komori Olson as she demonstrates how to make an origami-style newspaper carryall without using scissors and staples. Participants at this 7 p.m. event will learn how to create a shopping bag or wine bottle bag. Those who attend are asked to bring one or two days worth of newspapers. The workshop will be held at the Upper Saddle River Library, located at 245 Lake Street in Upper Saddle River.
