Page 12 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • June 20, 2012 Waldwick Watch Altered books, ceramics on display Altered books and ceramic houses, projects of the eighth grade art appreciation classes of Waldwick Middle School art teacher Christine Cook, will be on display at the Waldwick Library through the end of June. Altered books are discarded books that have been recycled into art. The students transformed donated books into pieces of art that portray children’s literature. Featured in the exhibit are altered books that now depict a variety of fables, fairy tales, nursery rhymes, and movies. The colorful ceramic houses were created by the students from slabs of clay that were shaped into imaginative designs. After the houses were fired in the kiln, the students completed the details of the houses with acrylic paint. The library is located at 19 East Prospect Street in Waldwick. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call (201) 652-5104.
