Fees are $55 for adults, $50 for children, and $45 for seniors. Rates for non residents are $150 for adults age 18 and up and $125 for children ages four to 17. Children who are three years old or younger are admitted free. An additional $10 fee will apply to each badge purchased after June 22. Waldwick’s facility includes a main pool, a wading pool, a concession stand, and a new swing set for young patrons. The pool, which is located at Hopper Avenue and West Prospect Street, will be open from noon to 8 p.m. weekdays beginning June 25, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends before June 25. First time registrants must register in person at the Waldwick Borough Clerk’s Office, 63 Franklin Turnpike to have an ID picture taken. For more information, call (201) 652-5300. Children welcome at library Borough children, ages two and up, are invited to the Waldwick Public Library, 19 East Prospect Street in Waldwick, to participate in the Summer Reading Club. This year’s theme is “Dream Big: Read.” The program will begin June 21 and continue through Aug. 24. Children who read 10 books that are at or above their grade level will qualify for prizes at the end of the summer. Very young children who do not read may qualify by having 20 books read to them. Sign up at the front desk beginning June 21. Participation in the Summer Reading Club and related special events is open to Waldwick residents only. Several summer programs have been planned for Waldwick children ages three and up. Proof of residency and advance registration are required. Call the library at (201) 652-5104. On June 30 at 11 a.m., The Robert Rogers Puppet Company will present the first of the summer programs. This performance will be the original production, “Turtle’s Big Dream,” based on a Native American legend. On July 10, “big kid” singer-songwriter Kurt Gallagher will entertain at 11:45 a.m. with songs, instruments, bubbles, and more. Full Effect Productions will return on July 21 at 11 a.m. with Steve the Magician and his assistant Professor Hoot the Owl for a magical adventure that is packed with comedy and audience participation. On July 24, the traveling zoo, Eyes of the Wild, will present “Nocturnal by Nature” at 11:45 a.m. Learn about the habitats, survival techniques, communication, adaptations, and other behaviors of some wild creatures of the night. The Parents’ Choice Gold Award-winning Green Golly Project will visit on July 31 at 11:45 a.m. to present “Last Night I Dreamt I Ate a Giant Marshmallow and When I Woke up My Pillow Was Gone!” This original, interactive program combines stories, songs, and comedy to celebrate kids’ dreams. Artist and entertainer Paul Merklein will close out the summer shows on Aug. 7 at 11:45 a.m. with a unique program that combines dynamic art, comedy, and audience participation. Merklein draws famous faces and people right from the audience. Pack 88 welcomes new members Cub Scout Pack 88 invites all boys in kindergarten through third grade to its meeting at Crescent School, 165 Crescent Avenue, on Friday, June 15 at 7 p.m. The event will feature activities for the boys, an information session for parents, and the opportunity to register. The clinic will run from July 2 through 30 at the Veteran’s Park courts. Children must be five years of age by Oct. 1, 2012 to participate. Classes will be grouped by age. Each participant must provide a racquet and six tennis balls. Participants will be charged a $30 non-refundable registration fee payable to the Borough of Waldwick. Those who are age 18 or older must obtain a tennis badge from the borough clerk’s office for $20. Pre-registration is required, and the application form and payment is due by June 15. The program requires a minimum of 80 participants. In the event of cancellation, the registration fee will be refunded. Registration forms are available at http://www.waldwickpd.org/forms/tennis.pdf. Parents are reminded that crossing guards are not on duty during the summer. Young children should be dropped off and picked up by a responsible caregiver. Lifeguard training offered Lifeguard training classes will offered at the Waldwick Pool June 18 through 30. The cost is $275 and pre-registration is not required. Candidates will be required to pass a swim test to be administered on the first day of class. Fifth Grade Activity Night set This season’s last Fifth Grade Activity Night will be held June 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the all-purpose room at Waldwick Middle School, 155 Wyckoff Avenue. Bronx Wanders to perform The Bronx Wanders will perform a free concert at the Oval on June 13 at 7 p.m. This program is sponsored by the Borough of Waldwick. Strawberry Festival announced The Waldwick United Methodist Church, 25 Franklin Turnpike, will hold its annual Strawberry Social on Thursday, June 14 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on the church lawn. (The event will be held rain or shine.) On the menu will be ice cream and strawberries on a homemade biscuit or pound cake, and a beverage.
