Principal Brass to perform benefit Join the New York Philharmonic Principal Brass on June 27 for a 7:30 p.m. preview program from the group’s upcoming tour of Japan. This program is a benefit for the Ridgewood Concert Band and will be held at the West Side Presbyterian Church, 6 South Monroe Street in Ridgewood. The Principal Brass, a quintet of principal brass players from the New York Philharmonic, will perform music selected from the repertoire they will be playing during their summer tour. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $7 for students. Tickets may be purchased online at www.ridgewoodband.org or at the door the night of the concert. YWCA offers one-week swim classes This month, the YWCA Bergen County is offering several concentrated swim classes that provide short-term swim instruction for children, teens, and adults. These one-week classes will run from June 18 through 22 at the YWCA’s 112 Oak Street, Ridgewood location. Classes include youth swim lessons for children ages six through 12, private swim lessons for anyone age four years through adult, and Kindergarten Aqua Adventures for fiveand six-year-olds. The class combines 30 minutes of swim lessons with 30 minutes of pool activities that encourage participants to practice swim skills and build confidence. The YWCA Bergen County offers a variety of American Red Cross certified programs throughout the year, including swimming lessons for ages six months to adult and lifeguard training. Support group for caregivers set Christian Health Care Adult Day Services at Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff will host a Caregiver Support Group at noon Tuesday, July 3. The meeting is open to the public and no reservations are necessary. The meeting, which will be held at CHCC, 301 Sicomac Avenue in Wyckoff, provides support to people caring for a loved one suffering from dementia and other medical problems relating to aging. Meetings are facilitated by Kerri Sherer, LSW. In addition, information about area social services will be available, and attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions or vent their feelings and share knowledge with others facing similar issues. Beer & Wine Tasting benefit set Mill Gardens at Midland Park will host a June 16 Beer & Wine Tasting to benefit the Visiting Homemaker’s CareAt-Home Charity Services. The event will be held at Mill Gardens, 36 Faner Road in Midland Park, from 3 to 6 p.m. The tasting will feature beers and wines appropriately
paired with hors d’oeuvres prepared by a Culinary Institute of America trained chef. The cost is $35 per person.
