‘Explore Galore’ scheduled Rainbow Corners Nursery School will host an Open House, “Explore Galore,” for children and their parents on June 6 from 1 to 2 p.m. and June 7 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Participants will have opportunities to meet the director and teachers, and learn about the school’s programs. Seniors travel to Canada The Golden Seniors of Waldwick will travel to Niagara Falls and Toronto Sept. 24 through 28. The five-day, fournight excursion includes motor coach transportation, lodging, eight meals, guided tours of Niagara Falls and Toronto, gaming at Fallsview Casino, visits to Casa Loma, the town of Niagara-on-the Lake, Queen Victoria Park, and more The trip is $465 per person, double occupancy. Pajama Movie Night planned The Ho-Ho-Kus/Waldwick Cooperative Nursery School will offer a Pajama Movie Night on Friday, June 8. The show will be held in the auditorium at the Community Church of Ho-Ho-Kus auditorium, which is located at 400 Warren Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus. The Dr. Seuss Celebration will begin at 5 p.m. and will feature “Green Eggs & Ham,” “The Cat in the Hat,” and “The Lorax.” All are invited. Tickets are $5 per child with parents and children under two years old admitted free. Auxiliary sets luncheon meeting The Waldwick Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will hold a luncheon meeting at noon on June 6. School to host Art Festival Crescent School will host its first Art Festival on Saturday, June 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school, 165 Crescent Avenue in Waldwick. Students’ art projects will be displayed throughout the campus. Festival activities will include face painting, tattoos, hair wrapping, caricatures, and tie-dying. The event will also feature a DJ and refreshments. Boosters plan Golf Outing The Waldwick High School Athletic Association Booster Club will host the 2012 Warriors Golf Classic on Wednesday, June 27. The event will be held at Farmstead Golf and Country Club in Lafayette. The day will begin at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. Participants may register beginning at 7 a.m. The cost to attend is $125 and includes a round of golf with cart, contests, prizes, and lunch at Nellie’s Place in Waldwick. Those who would like to attend the lunch only may do
so at a cost of $30 per person. The cost for Waldwick High students who participate in the outing is $75 for golf and lunch. The cost for college students is $100. Group to discuss Adiga novel The Waldwick Library Book Club will host a discussion of “The White Tiger” by Aravind Adiga on Thursday, June 14 at 7:15 p.m. This first novel by Indian writer Adiga chronicles the awakening of a low-caste Indian man to the degradation of servitude. Copies of the book are available at the circulation desk. The book club welcomes new members and drop-ins from Waldwick and surrounding towns. Municipal Pool opens Resident and non-resident registrations for the 2012 season at the Waldwick Municipal Pool are now being accepted, with forms available online at www.waldwicknj. org under “Municipal Forms.” Waldwick’s facility includes a main pool, a wading pool, a concession stand, and a new swing set for young patrons. The pool, which is located at Hopper Avenue and West Prospect Street, will be open from noon to 8 p.m. weekdays beginning June 25, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends before June 25. The pre-season rates for Waldwick and Midland Park residents through June 22 are $55 for adults, $50 for children, and $45 for seniors. Rates for non residents are $150 for adults age 18 and up and $125 for children ages four to 17. Children who are three years old or younger are admitted free. An additional $10 fee will apply to each badge purchased after June 22. English classes on summer break The weekly English language classes at the Waldwick Public Library will conclude June 18 and 19. Meetings for the conversation group will resume on Monday, Sept. 17 at 10:15 a.m. and meetings for English Language Learning Activities will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. English for Speakers of Other Languages programs at the library are free and open to adults who want assistance learning and speaking English. Earlier on in the process, Kratz contacted the Village of Ridgewood to see if it would be interested in being part of the project, since several of the properties bordering the brook along the affected area are in Ridgewood. Kratz said village officials showed no interest at this time.
