Mutilva, nee Zambella, of Glen Rock died May 26. She was 71. She was a graduate of Trenton State College, and worked as a teacher and later as an elementary school librarian for the Radburn School in Fair Lawn for 33 years. She was a parishioner of Saint Anthony’s R.C. Church in Hawthorne. She is survived by her children Marisa Martell of Glen Rock and Janette Kreinberg of San Diego, California, five grandchildren, and her siblings Dominic Zambella of Mays Landing, Francis Zambella of Brick, Anna Demski of Pennington, and Angela “Babe” Phillips of Lexington, Kentucky. William “Bill” James Nigro of Denton, Texas, formerly of Upper Saddle River and Sedona, Arizona, died May 28. He was 83. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Before retiring in 1993, he worked as a purchasing agent in packaging design development for Revlon in both New York City and Phoenix, Arizona. He was a member of the Saddle River Lions Club and was a volunteer with the Upper Saddle River Ambulance Squad for many years. He is survived by his wife of Margrit (nee Wildbrett), his children Karen Cavan, Edward Godek, Barbara Avagnano, and Charlotte Marggraff, seven grandchildren, and his siblings Doris and Richard Nigro. Kenneth Rago of Waldwick died May 29. He was 85. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a graduate of Rutgers School of Pharmacy, Class of 1949. Before retiring, he was the pharmacist at the Wyckoff Pharmacy for 34 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Rosary Young Men’s Association in Passaic. Mardo N. Hamilton Jr. of Mahwah, formerly of Waldwick and Islip, New York, died May 30. He was 85. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. Before retiring, he was a district manager of Libbey Owens Ford Glass Co. of Toledo, Ohio for 37 years. He was a charter member of the National WW II Museum, a member of American Legion, Post 57 in Waldwick, USO, University of Toledo Alumni Association, and the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He is survived by his sons Mardo N. Hamilton III (Rob) of Stockton, and Shay Hamilton of Hopatcong, seven grandchildren, his sister Kathleen Ferguson, and his companion Shirley A. Everett of Mahwah. He worked for Bendix Corp., Bush Universal, and Western Union before opening a Sir Speedy Printing and Copying franchise in Wyckoff 38 years ago. He also owned a Sir Speedy in Mahwah for over 20 years. He was a Rotarian, a board member of Operation Mobilization and, for over 50 years, an active member of Hawthorne Gospel Church, where he served as head usher and as a member of various committees. Ho-Ho-Kus Jottings
Pajama Movie Night planned The Ho-Ho-Kus/Waldwick Cooperative Nursery School will offer a Pajama Movie Night on Friday, June 8. The show will be held in the auditorium at the Community Church of Ho-Ho-Kus auditorium, which is located at 400 Warren Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus. The Dr. Seuss Celebration will begin at 5 p.m. and will feature “Green Eggs & Ham,” “The Cat in the Hat,” and “The Lorax.” All are invited. Tickets are $5 per child with parents and children under two years old admitted free. Book Fair fundraiser set The Ho-Ho-Kus Home and School Association will host its 2012 Book Fair fundraiser on Tuesday, June 5 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, Route 17 South in Paramus. A percentage of the proceeds will benefit all students at the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School. Residents are encouraged to attend, shop, and support the school. Events will include a story time for children in preschool through second grade at 4 p.m. and a special performance by the Ho-Ho-Kus Jazz Band at 7:30 p.m. A voucher, required for purchases, may be obtained from store cashiers the day of the event. Knights plan Golf Outing Saint Luke’s Knights of Columbus will host its annual Golf Outing on June 11 at the Meadows Golf Course in Lincoln Park. Ho-Ho-Kus Hoedown is June 9 The Contemporary Club of Ho-Ho-Kus will host its second annual Ho-Ho-Kus Hoedown on Saturday, June 9 from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Brookside Racquet & Swim Club in Allendale. Festivities will include a Southern barbecue, saloon, entertainment by a local DJ, a special auction, ping pong tournament, and the announcement of the winner of the Youth Activities Council special contest. Prizes will be awarded for the best country costumes. Tickets are $75 in advance and can be purchased at http://hhkhoedown.eventbrite.com/ or at the door on the night of the event for $80.
