Page 2 THE VILLADOM TIMES I, II, III & IV • June 6, 2012 Villadom Happenings ‘Touch of England’ Car Show set British automobile and motorcycle enthusiasts will be in for a special treat on June 9 as the New Jersey Triumph Association returns to the Hermitage Museum in Ho-HoKus with its Touch of England Vintage British Automobile & Motorcycle Show. The event will be held at 335 North Franklin Turnpike from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Rain date: June 10.) The event will feature classic automobiles from British manufacturers including Triumph, MG, Austin-Healey, Jaguar, Lotus, Morgan, TVR, Mini, Sunbeam, Rolls Royce, and Bentley. A variety of vintage British motorcycles will also be showcased. The show will also feature a special section with vendors selling automobile-related items. Admission is $6 for adults; children under age six will be admitted free. Parking is free. The Hermitage will be open for tours by separate admission. Proceeds from the show benefit the educational programs at the Hermitage, a nonprofit educational institution. Dancers welcome new members The North Jersey English Country Dancers welcome newcomers to their June 10 dance. All dances are taught and prompted, and the music is live. Beginner instruction will be held at 1:30 p.m. and the main dance will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Participants may come with or without a partner. Senior Tap Groups sought Senior tap dancing groups are invited to participate in this October’s 23rd Annual Tap Show hosted by the Northwest Bergen Regional Senior Center. Senior dancers are welcome to “strut their stuff” at the George Frey Center for Arts and Recreation, 10-10 20th Street in Fair Lawn. Tap groups that are interested in performing may call the center at (201) 445-5690. The senior center is offering free tap dancing lessons for beginners on Fridays at 9 a.m. Led by Jean Cunningham, The Valley Hospital Fertility Center recently hosted its annual Baby Jubilee to celebrate the almost 1,500 babies born since the program’s inception. Approximately 450 adults and children attended this year’s reunion. Valley holds annual Baby Jubilee the one-hour class is for seniors who have little or no tap dancing experience. The center recommends trying a class before purchasing tap shoes. A wide variety of activities, services, and a hot lunch program are offered Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. ‘Under the Stars’ events set Summer entertainment “Under the Stars” at Ridgewood’s Kasschau Shell will begin June 8, when the Ridgewood High School Band will perform at 8 p.m. This series of free concerts takes place at the band shell at Veteran’s Field, located at the corner of North Maple and Linwood avenues, behind the Ridgewood Public Library. Beginning June 12, concerts will be held at 8:30 p.m. The Ridgewood Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company will perform selections from the “Pirates of Penzance” on June 12. The sponsor for this event is the Village of Ridgewood. The Richard Reiter Swing Band will perform June 14. This program is sponsored by Hudson City Savings Bank The Harmony Celebration Chorus “Sweet Adelines” will entertain on June 19.
