Waldwick January 25, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 15 Vintage toy watches now on display at public library The vintage toy watch collection of Jonathan Cobin is now on display at the Waldwick Public Library and will remain on exhibit through Wednesday, Feb. 29. The exhibit includes a wide variety of inexpensive dime store watches manufactured from tin and other metals, and assorted plastics. All of the watches are in the original packaging which includes familiar motifs such as cowboys, space men, dolls, clowns, Snow White, and Cinderella. Cobin, a retired New York City police detective, was born in Manhattan and currently resides in Waldwick with his wife and two children. An antiques and retro culture collector for more than 30 years, Cobin’s extensive collection now houses thousands of vintage toys spanning many categories and decades. He is the author of the recently published “Art on Toys: A Look at Packaging Art found on Vintage Dime Store Toys.” Cobin’s passion for collecting was inspired by his parents who furnished their home with antique furniture and collectible house wares. The library is located at 19 East Prospect Street. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call (201) 652-5104. The 2012 Waldwick High School Graduation Ball Committee is seeking donations of used cell phones and empty laser and ink jet printer cartridges. The fundraiser will help support this year’s alcohol-free and drug-free celebration for graduating high school seniors. Drop off locations include: the Waldwick Stop N Shop, 19 Wyckoff Avenue; the Waldwick Municipal Building, 63 Franklin Turnpike; and the Waldwick Police Department, 15 East Prospect Street.
