He received a bachelor’s degree in business from New York University. He worked in the apparel industry and spent most of his career at Leslie Fay, where he was the national sales manager. He is survived by his wife Midge and his son Peter. Arrangements were made by Gutterman and Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors in Hackensack. Stanley Jacob Holuba of Saddle River died Jan. 10. He was 65. He was co-owner and chief operating officer of Stanson Corporation, the family business for more than 40 years. He graduated from New York Military Academy, Class of 1964, and served on the academy’s board of trustees for over a decade. He graduated from Gettysburg College Class of 1968 and served on the Gettysburg College Board of Fellows. He was a member of the Windbeam Fishing Club and a brother of AHEPA Ramapo. He is survived by his wife Lynn Holuba (née Scillieri), his children Nicole Holuba LaMarca, Angela M. Holuba, and Mary Jo Holuba, his mother Angela J. Holuba, and his brother Robert Holuba. Providence Powers, nee Fucarino, of Allendale, formerly of Closter, died Jan. 8. She was 85. She worked as an executive secretary for Columbia Pictures in New York City, and for the Bergen County CYO in Paramus until her retirement. She was a parishioner of Church of the Guardian Angel in Allendale and a former member of Saint Mary’s R.C. Church in Closter where she served as a Eucharistic minister. She is survived by her children John J. Powers of Harrington Park, Regina Guarnaccia of Allendale, and Christine Smith of Waldwick, eight grandchildren, and her brother Joseph Fucarino of Ridgefield Park. He was a member of Walnut Valley United Methodist Church of Blairstown. He is survived by his daughters Barbara Giambarrese of Midland Park, and Jo Ann Doll of Minneapolis, Minnesota, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his sisters Evelyn and Norma. Allendale Notebook Auxiliary schedules fundraiser The Allendale Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will host a Wine Tasting on Jan. 29 at Park and Orchard Restaurant in East Rutherford. Proceeds will benefit the Center for Maternal Fetal Medicine at The Valley Hospital and Valley Home Care’s Maternal Child Health, a program that focuses on children who require complex health care services. The tasting will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. and will include an assortment of wines and samplings from the Park and Orchard kitchen. Tickets are $60 per person, payable to VHA-Allendale. Kindergarten Orientation set A Kindergarten Orientation for parents of children entering kindergarten in September 2012 will be held March 1 at 7 p.m. in the Hillside School all-purpose room, 89 Hillside Avenue. This program is designed to provide parents with an overview of the Hillside kindergarten program and curriculum. (Snow date: March 6.) Kindergarten registration will take place March 12 for pupils whose last names begin with A through M and March 13 for those with last names beginning with N through Z. Registration will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at Hillside School. (Snow date for registration will be March 19 for pupils whose last names begin with A through M and March 20 for pupils whose last names begin with N through Z.) Parents or guardians must bring proof of child’s birth, such as a birth or baptismal certificate or passport, a copy of the child’s immunization history, and proof of residency (copy of lease/contract, driver’s license, utility bill, etc.) to registration. Children may be enrolled if they are will be five years of age by Oct. 1 of the year they are enrolling in school. For children who will be six years of age or older as of Oct. 1, 2012, the building principal will schedule a kindergarten screening date, as per board of education policy. Based on the screening results, parents will be advised as to the placement of the child in either kindergarten or first grade.
