Learn to dance Learn to dance at the Upper Saddle River Library with Kathy Porro from The Grand Ballroom in Midland Park. Porro will offer five lessons in ballroom and Latin basics to individuals or couples on Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 23 and 30, and Feb. 6, 13, and 27. Chamber Players perform ‘Baroque Bash’ The popular All Seasons Chamber Players will perform a “Baroque Bash” at the Upper Saddle River Library on Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. The ensemble will use its two-manual Flemish harpsichord in combination with flute and strings to perform music from countries in the musical vanguard during the Baroque era. Book groups announce meetings The Novels at Night book group will discuss Michael Cunningham’s “By Nightfall” on Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m. The group will meet at the Upper Saddle River Library. Novels at Night meets the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. Coffee Talk will discuss “Still Alice” by Lisa Genova on Feb. 9 at 10:30 a.m. This group meets the second Thursday of the month. Board of education to meet The Upper Saddle River Board of Education will meet Jan. 23 at 8 p.m. The meetings are held in the media center of the Cavallini Middle School, 392 West Saddle River Road in Upper Saddle River. Club seeks donors, sponsors The Saddle River Valley Junior Woman’s Club is seeking donations and sponsors for its Wine Pairing Dinner and special auction fundraiser, which is set for Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. at Seasons in Washington Township. Proceeds will benefit The Center for Food Action. The high-profile event will feature Dan Amatuzzi, wine director of Eataly in New York City and private wine consultant, who will offer tips on unique wine and food pairings. The evening will include a cocktail hour, premium open bar, a four-course dinner with paired wines, and a special auction. In addition to sponsorships, advertising opportunities are available. Juniors collect donations for veterans The Saddle River Valley Junior Woman’s Club is seeking donations of clothing and personal products to benefit veterans’ homes located in Menlo Park, Paramus, and Vineland. The homes are open to men and women who have served in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy. The residents, who live on a fixed living allowance, have their health needs met, but are in need of personal care items and basic clothing. The club is seeking donations of the following items: men’s new (with tags attached) sweatshirts and sweatpants in size large through 3XL, and T-shirts in medium through 3XL; deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, denture care products (no liquids); batteries; sunglasses with dark lenses; and electric razors. Lions Club recycles eyeglasses For more than 60 years, Lions clubs have been collecting used eyeglasses for recycling. Donated glasses are either given to support local eyeglass recycling efforts or shipped to one of seven official Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centers. The Saddle River Valley Lions Club has placed “eyeglass collection boxes” through the club area. Gold and purple boxes with the Lions logo can be found at the following locations: Mahwah: Bank of America, Town Hall, Library and a drive up white box at 190 Franklin Turnpike; Ramsey: Town Hall, Library, Ramsey High School, Quality Optical (Main Street); Saddle River: Bank of America; and Upper Saddle River: Library.
