Except for the borough auditor, all professionals serving the Borough of Midland Park at the present time are carryovers from 2011. Last month the council members decided to advertise for resumes for several positions, including borough attorney, engineer, appraiser, prosecutor, public defender, and attorney and engineer for the planning board and the board of adjustment. The borough clerk issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for all the positions in mid December. The council is expected to discuss the applications at its closed session meeting of Jan. 26 and make the appointments at its Feb. 9 meeting. “Our professionals have been with us for a long time. Professionals’ credentials being reviewed We wanted to review their credentials once again to justify the reason why we selected them and why we keep them serving the borough,” Mayor Patrick “Bud” O’Hagan explained. RFQs for the auditor’s position will be advertised in the summer, once the 2011 audit and other required reports are filed, according to Borough Clerk/Administrator Addie Hanna. She said that work on the 2012 budget had already started in October, that the 2011 audit and rollover for 2012 were already in progress, and the 2012 debt statement is due on Feb. 10, all tasks that could not have been turned over to a new auditor should the council have decided to make a change.
