Upper Saddle River January 11, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 3 Minichetti begins service as borough’s mayor Joanne Minichetti has been sworn in as mayor of Upper Saddle River, officially becoming the first woman to hold that post. “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the community in this new capacity,” Mayor Minichetti told Villadom TIMES last week. “I appreciate the voters’ confidence in me and look forward to working with all of our residents. With the support of a dedicated council, experienced staff, and the borough’s many volunteers, we will be ready for any challenges that may lie ahead.” Before being elected to the mayor’s seat in the 2011 general election, Minichetti had been a member of the borough council since 2007. Minichetti is a planning board member and served as liaison to the zoning board and to the Historic Preservation Commission. She writes the borough bulletin, and contributes to the municipal website. She is also a Green Team member and representative to the library board. The mayor has served as president of the board of health, and was a member of the Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission. She served as co-chair of the USR Vision 2020 Committee, which helped develop a 15-year plan for the borough based on a survey of residents. She is one of three co-founders of the Upper Saddle River Educational Foundation, and has served as presided of the PTO. She has been a Girl Scout leader for 20 years. Minichetti succeeds Kenneth Gabbert, who had served as mayor since 2004 and was a borough councilman for nine years. Upper Saddle River Mayor Joanne Minichetti
