Learn to dance Learn to dance at the Upper Saddle River Library with Kathy Porro from The Grand Ballroom in Midland Park. Chamber Players perform ‘Baroque Bash’ The popular All Seasons Chamber Players will perform a “Baroque Bash” at the Upper Saddle River Library on Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. The ensemble will use its two-manual Flemish harpsichord in combination with flute and strings to perform music from countries in the musical vanguard during the Baroque era. Book groups announce meetings The Novels at Night book group will discuss Michael Cunningham’s “By Nightfall” on Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m. The group will meet at the Upper Saddle River Library. College funding seminars offered The Upper Saddle River Library will offer two January seminars about financing college. How to Qualify for Financial Aid and Scholarships will be offered Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Robert Traitz, CFP, CCPS, will provide tips and strategies to help fund higher education. The workshop will focus on little-known ways of qualifying for money through scholarships and grants to help pay for college and increase eligibility for grant money. Learn the secrets to sending a student to a private college for less than the cost of state schools. On Jan. 17, learn how to fill out the FAFSA form with Todd Werling. High school students heading off to college will need to have filed the FAFSA, a federal application necessary for all financial aid and student loans. This event will feature Dan Amatuzzi, wine director of Eataly in New York City and private wine consultant, who will offer tips on wine and food pairings. Juniors collect donations for veterans The Saddle River Valley Junior Woman’s Club is seek- ing donations of clothing and personal products to benefit veterans’ homes located in Menlo Park, Paramus, and Vineland. The homes are open to men and women who have served in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy. The residents, who live on a fixed living allowance, have their health needs met, but are in need of personal care items and basic clothing. The club is seeking donations of the following items: men’s new (with tags attached) sweatshirts and sweatpants in size large through 3XL, and T-shirts in medium through 3XL; deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, denture care products (no liquids); batteries; sunglasses with dark lenses; and electric razors. Free health consultations offered The Valley Hospital Community Health Department in conjunction with the Saddle River Board of Health will continue to conduct free adult health consultations for Saddle River residents on the first Wednesday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at 10 Wolf Run, Saddle River. The sessions consist of blood pressure, pulse, and weight monitoring. Information including such health concerns as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and a review of medications will also be discussed. All services are provided by a registered nurse. At this time, there is no evidence of contact between the two vehicles and neither Benanti nor Tichacek was injured. It is alleged that during the investigation, both lied to investigators regarding the events leading up to the collision. Both have been charged with third degree hindering apprehension. In addition, Benanti was charged with motor vehicle summonses of reckless driving and racing on a highway. Additional charges may be considered as the investigation continues. Tichacek was released on her own recognizance. Benanti was released after posting bail in the amount of $10,000. Both are scheduled for first appearance in Upper Saddle River Municipal Court on Jan. 10. Molinelli stated that the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He thanked the Upper Saddle River Police Department and Bergen County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance.
