Beverages and dessert will be served at noon, and the program will begin at 1 p.m. On Feb. 28, Nancy Rosin, president of the National Valentine Collector Association, will present a discussion of vintage valentines that date back six centuries. Chamber of commerce to elect officers The Ho-Ho-Kus Chamber of Commerce will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. The group meets in the ambulance corps meeting room on the second floor of borough hall, located at 333 Warren Avenue. Members are encouraged to attend. Elections for the executive board and the board of directors will be held. Kindergarten registration to begin Kindergarten registration for the 2012-13 school year will take place at the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School, 70 Lloyd Road in Ho-Ho-Kus, on Thursday, Jan. 19. Registrations will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the school library. Incoming kindergartners must be five years of age on or before Oct. 1, 2012. Parents or guardians must bring the child’s birth certificate and two proofs of residency. Acceptable proofs of residency include a copy of a deed or fully executed lease and a copy of current utility bill. Call (201) 652-4555. Holiday display continues The Hermitage Museum in Ho-Ho-Kus, which is currently decked in historic decorations by the Ho-Ho-Kus Garden Club, will be presenting its “Here We Go A-Caroling” display through Jan. 15. This year, each room at the National Landmark Victorian home at 335 Franklin Turnpike has been designed to evoke the spirit of a different carol. The museum is open to the public Wednesdays through Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. The Hermitage is one of the nation’s outstanding examples of domestic Gothic Revival architecture. On the same wavelength ‘Treasures from Ho-Ho-Kus’ for sale The Contemporary Cub of Ho-Ho-Kus is offering its “Treasures from Ho-Ho-Kus” cookbook for $20. This edition is a revision of the 1975 “Ho-Ho-Kus Hostesses” cookbook. The updated version contains favorite recipes, some of which are over 100 years old, from residents, past and present U.S. Presidents, the Ho-Ho-Kus Inn, and the Hermitage. Police offer announcements via Twitter The Ho-Ho-Kus Police Department is now featuring special announcements that will be available to the public via Twitter. The link to Twitter may be found on the department’s website, www.ho-ho-kuspolice.com. Messages will cover various non-emergency situations, such as road closings and delayed school openings. Emergency information and other situations that affect the community will still be disseminated via Reverse 911. Councilwoman Kim Weiss was reappointed to the council in late December. She is filling the unexpired term of Kevin Crossley, who moved to New York last year. This year’s committee appointments include: Doug Troast, police commissioner; Phil Rorty, deputy police commissioner; Maryellen Lennon, fire commissioner; and Steve Shell, deputy fire commissioner. Kim Weiss will serve as ambulance corps commissioner with Rorty as deputy ambulance corps commissioner. Weiss will also serve as DPW/buildings & grounds commissioner and deputy DPW water commissioner. Steve Shell will serve as DPW water commissioner and deputy DPW/buildings & grounds commissioner. Kevin Shea will serve as finance chairman, with Troast as his deputy. Lennon will be in charge of community relations, with Shea as her deputy.
