Roy M. Jett Jr. of Waldwick died Jan. 4. He was 66. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Before his retirement in 2004, he was a supervisor for PSE&G for over 30 years. He was a member of the Civil War Preservation Trust. He is survived by his children Christopher of Waldwick, Laura Jett of Mahwah, Amy Heid of Ringwood, and Gary of Waldwick, his stepchildren Blythe and Brent, and seven grandchildren, and his siblings Linda Stacy, Cyndi Lesser, Becky Bragg, Jacque Davis, and Bobby Jett. Stephen Konde of Waldwick died Dec. 22. He was 63. He was a graduate of Hackensack High School, and received his bachelor’s degree from Springfield College. He earned his master’s degree at Montclair University. Before retiring in 2004, he was employed by the Paramus Board of Education for 34 years as a physical education teacher. He was the varsity baseball coach at Waldwick High School for 20 years. During his coaching career, he was twice named Bergen County Coach of the year, was the recipient of the Bergen County Coaches Service to Baseball Award and was inducted into the New Jersey Coaches Hall of Fame. He was a past president of both the Bergen County Coaches Association and the Bergen County Soccer Officials Association. He was a soccer official for over 35 years. He is survived by his wife Rosemary (nee Cubby), and by his daughters Katie Eitner of Mahwah, and Kristen Nelson of Ramsey, four grandchildren, and his mother Eunice Konde of Ramsey. Phyllis Ann Maloney, nee DiGiovanni, of Upper Saddle River, died Dec. 25. She was 63. She graduated Farmingdale High School and attended Queens College. She worked alongside her husband to grow the family’s health care and hospitality businesses in northern New Jersey and New York. She is survived by her husband William Jr., and her children Meredith Tedford of Marblehead, Massachusetts, and William Maloney III of New York City, four grandchildren, and her brother Ernest DiGiovanni. She was predeceased by her parents Pasquale and Rose DiGiovanni of Farmingdale, New York. Arrangements were made by C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Peggy Baarck Porter, formerly of Allendale, died Jan. 4. She graduated from Ramsey High School, where she was elected Miss Ramsey High and served as the school’s head cheerleader. She attended Douglass College in New Brunswick. She was the office manager for Dr. Elias Tsoukas in Ramsey for over 20 years. She served as president of the Junior Woman’s Club, and was a member of the Holiday Observers. She was a member of the Ocean Beach and Yacht Club, where she served as special events chairperson. She is survived by her husband Carroll “Port”’ Porter, her children Jennifer Porter, Carol Steeneck, and Steve Porter, three grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Charles Francis Tague of Cambridge, Massachusetts, formerly of Upper Saddle River, died Jan. 1. He was 87. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He received his education at Saint Anne’s Academy and Fordham University. Before retiring, he was a chief financial officer in the real estate business. He is survived by his children Patrick, Charles, Thomas, James, Mary Alicia Haberman, and Beth Anne Giulano, and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Alicia (nee Murtha). Tomiello of Allendale, formerly of Waldwick died Dec. 30. He was 64. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Prior to working as a maintenance supervisor with Wagner Tours Bus Company, he owned and operated Sunlight Transportation, Inc. He was a real estate agent with Weichert Realtors in Ridgewood. He is survived by his wife Rosanne, his children Frank, Robert, Richard, and Melissa, three grandchildren, and his sister Gail Steinmetz. Edward, J. Valentine of Waldwick died Dec. 31. He was 88. He was born and raised in Irvinestown, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. He worked as a civilian electrician for the Royal Air Force at Lough Erne during World War II. He worked for over 38 years at Pfizer, Inc. as a supervisor/foreman with cross-disciplines in electrical and HVAC specialization in Maywood, and Brooklyn, New York. He was a member and volunteer at Saint Luke’s R.C.

He is survived by his children John (Jack), Anne, Edward Jr., Mary Catherine Jasper, and Eileen, three grandchildren, and his siblings Gerald Valentine and Cathie McHugh. He was predeceased by his wife Mary (Rhattigan), his daughter Catherine Elizabeth, his grandson Patrick, his parents John and Annie Valentine, and siblings Nancy Butler, Daisy Valentine, Jack Valentine, and Leo Valentine. She is survived by her children David Winder of Waldwick, Gail Ortenburger of Cambria, California, John Winder of Mahwah, and Susan Schlosser of Haskell, 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and her siblings Alan, Harry, and Carl Tenney. Elizabeth C. Yaged of Wyckoff died Dec. 23. She was 93. As a teenager, she had worked in the knitting mills in Hawthorne. She later worked for ITT in Nutley. She was a parishioner of Saint Anthony’s R.C. Church in Hawthorne, and was active in the Rosary Society. She was a founding member of the Golden Horizon, a member of the Golden Circle, and a member of the Hawthorne VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She is survived by her children David Yaged of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Carol Rooney of Hawthorne, five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and her siblings Chris Collins of Neptune, John Moore Jr. of Pennsylvania, and Terry Weber of Rockaway. She was predeceased by her husband Peter S. Yaged, and her sister Anne Famy. Arrangements were made by Browning Forshay Funeral Home in Hawthorne.
