Page 12 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • February 29, 2012 Waldwick Watch Wine Tasting benefit set The Waldwick Community Alliance and Maratene’s Fine Wine and Spirits will host the annual Wine Tasting benefit on Saturday, March 3 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Saint Luke’s Church, 340 North Franklin Turnpike in Ho-HoKus. The event will include a sampling of over 100 quality wines from around the world, craft beers, hors d’oeuvres, chocolates, and prizes. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the event and 20 percent of the wine sales will benefit the restoration of the Waldwick Train Station. A portion of the proceeds will benefit two scholarships that will awarded to graduating members of the high school’s baseball and softball teams in recognition of their achievements in sports and academics. Football and cheerleading registration set Registration for fall 2012 Waldwick Warrior Football and Cheerleading will be held on Tuesday, March 20 in the Waldwick High School cafeteria from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The school is located at 155 Wyckoff Avenue in Waldwick. Flag football and mini cheerleading will be offered to children who will be entering first and second grades in September. Cheerleading and tackle football are available to children who will be entering grades three through eight. Registration may be entered online at www.waldwickjrfootball.org, but payment and two photos will still need to be delivered on March 20. Registering online allows for the association to begin planning for the season. Auxiliary schedules Fish and Chips Dinner The Waldwick Fire Department Auxiliary will host its annual Fish and Chips Dinner on Friday, March 30 at the firehouse at 15 East Prospect Street. Fish and Chips and Chicken and Chips dinners will be available. Meals include fries, coleslaw, and dessert. This is a takeout dinner only. Building Blocks to hold Beefsteak Fundraiser Building Blocks Child Center of Waldwick will host its Second Annual Beefsteak Fundraiser on Saturday, April 21 at 6 p.m. The event will be held in the school gym at 136 Wyckoff Avenue in Waldwick. Tickets are $40 per person and include entry, a beefsteak dinner with salad, french fries, beverage, ice cream, coffee, and a “starter kit” with prize tickets. Donations of prizes and gift certificates from individuals and businesses are welcome. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Building Blocks Child Center, a ministry of Christ Community Church. Career group finds temporary space The Waldwick chapter of Neighbors Helping Neighbors, a free peer volunteer support group for people who are actively looking for work, will meet at Saint Luke’s Church, 340 North Franklin Turnpike in Ho-Ho-Kus, on Monday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. until the building project at the Waldwick Public Library has been completed. Meetings will take place in the conference room near the church office. Neighbors Helping Neighbors welcomes anyone in career transition: recent college graduates, unemployed, under-employed, those re-entering the job market, struggling entrepreneurs, and retirees looking for part-time work. Fashions will be modeled by the members of the senior class. The event will feature a DJ, baskets filled with prizes, appetizers, a sit-down dinner, and dessert. A cash bar will be available. Water allocation (continued from page 7) water use restrictions, such authorized official shall give the violator a written warning for the first violation and explain the penalties in writing for a second, third, and fourth offense as provided herein and by Section 81-34 of this ordinance. In the case of the first written warning, there shall be no fee. In the case of a second written warning, there will be a $100 fee imposed on the violator. The written warning shall be served upon the violator either personally or by certified mail, return receipt requested. The local authorized official shall keep on file a proof of service for each such written warning as well as other records as may be reasonable and necessary for the purpose of determining the persons and businesses who have been warned upon a first and second offense. The local authorized official is hereby empowered to write summonses for the violation of the water use restrictions imposed pursuant to this ordinance.” Section 81-34 of the ordinance, which covers violations and penalties, states, “After a first and second violation in accordance with Section 81-33 of this ordinance, any person or business who thereafter violates the water use restrictions imposed pursuant to this ordinance shall be subject to the penalties set forth in this section. For a third offense, the violator shall have his/its water supply service discontinued and such water supply shall not be turned on unless and until such person or business pays a fee of $250. For a fourth and subsequent offense, the violator shall have his/its water supply service discontinued and the water supply shall not be turned on unless and until such person or business pays a $250 fee. In addition, for a fourth and subsequent offense, there shall be a fine of up to $1,000 or imprisonment for 30 days, or both.” The water superintendent, any borough police officer, and any department of public works employee would be authorized to enforce the ordinance.
