Register for soccer The Ho-Ho-Kus Saddle River Recreational Soccer Association will hold in-person registration for the fall 2012 season on March 10 and 17 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School multi-purpose room at 70 Lloyd Road in Ho-Ho-Kus. Information and registration forms are available online at www.HHKSRsoccer.com. Children entering grades one through 12 as of September 2012 in Ho-Ho-Kus and Saddle River are eligible to participate. An instructional program for children in grades one and two will be held on Saturday mornings for boys and on Sunday afternoons for girls. Youths in grades three through eight are invited to join the recreational program. This group will practice on weekdays and have games on the weekends. A co-ed high school recreational program for students in grades nine through 12 will practice on Fridays and play games on Sunday afternoons. The association is seeking new board members. The success of the program continues to be dependent on the active involvement of parent volunteers. No experience is necessary. Contemporary Club offers scholarship The Contemporary Club of Ho-Ho-Kus will award a $2,000 scholarship to a high school senior who demonstrates outstanding academic achievement, noteworthy extracurricular involvement, and meaningful community service. Any high school senior who has lived in Ho-Ho-
Kus for at least one year prior to the application date, is eligible for this scholarship. Candidates must submit the application with a high school transcript, personal statement, a guidance counselor’s statement, and two references no later than Wednesday, April 18. Applications are available at Northern Highlands, all local private school guidance departments, and at www. ccofhhk.com. Blood Drive scheduled Blood donors participating in the Ho-Ho-Kus Community Blood Drive in cooperation with Community Blood Services will help ensure that the transfusion needs of area patients are met. The drive, sponsored by Ho-Ho-Kus Blood Donors, will be held on Thursday, March 8 from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ho-Ho-Kus Borough Hall, 333 Warren Avenue. To schedule an appointment, call (201) 251-3703. All types of blood are needed especially types O- and O+. Any healthy individual age 17 through 75 and weighing at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Donors should eat a moderate meal before donating and must bring identification showing signature. All donors receive a complimentary cholesterol screening with every blood donation. Rosin presents program about valentines Nancy Rosin, president of the National Valentine Collector Association, will present a discussion of vintage valentines that date back six centuries to the Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors on Feb. 28. Rosin’s collection includes over 10,000 cards. The seniors meet at the Education Center of the Hermitage located at 355 North Franklin Turnpike. Beverages and dessert will be served at noon, and the program will begin

March of the Warrior benefit set The eighth grade Class of 2012 at the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School will host its March of the Warrior benefit on March 8 at 5:30 p.m. The students will form two co-ed basketball teams that will meet in “battle.” After the game, the students will serve a pasta dinner to spectators. Tickets are $10, and may be purchased outside the school at 3 p.m. on March 5. The school is located at 70 Lloyd Road. Bedtime Story Time set The Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library, located at 91 Warren Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus, invites children to a Bedtime Story Time on Thursday, March 8 from 7:15 to 8 p.m. Attendees may come in their pajamas and bring a special toy or blanket. Donations sought for ECLC benefit ECLC of New Jersey is seeking donations of prizes and ads for the event journal for its Annual Dinner and Prize Basket Fundraiser, which will be held March 29 at The Tides in North Haledon. ECLC of NJ is a non-profit organization serving children and adults with moderate to severe intellectual and developmental disabilities including spectrum disorders, autism, Down syndrome, and complicated medical issues. The school is located at 302 North Franklin Turnpike in Ho-Ho-Kus (the former Saint Luke’s School), and serves approximately 100 children.
