The Waldwick Borough Council last week hired Andrew Tatarenko of Hoboken as the new grants administrator/assistant borough administrator effective Jan. 2. He replaces Laura Davisson, who resigned in October after three months on the job to accept a position in Washington, D.C. Tatarenko, who has been the deputy city clerk in Clifton for the past three years, was selected from among 40 candidates following a national search. He will be paid $53,584 a year. “We are looking forward to welcoming Andrew to our borough. He will be a great asset to our administrative staff. The knowledge and experience that he brings to Waldwick will be used not only in the position that he is being hired

for but in all the departments in borough hall,” commented Mayor Tom Giordano. “He has a really good background, with strengths in finance and municipal government in addition to being an engineer. Time for the holidays
Waldwick Chamber of Commerce President Christine Figliuolo and Mayor Tom Giordano, pictured above, were among the many volunteers who decorated the clock park at Franklin Turnpike and West Prospect Street for the holidays, supported by chamber members, the borough council and the Waldwick Volunteer Fire Department. Horizon Landscape Company donated the lights, Rohsler’s Nursery designed the planters, Chris James Landscaping will continue to beautify the clock area and the Route 17S exit ramp again in 2013.
The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 57 in Waldwick is collecting supplies for its One Box-One Soldier program. In an effort to remind troops serving abroad that they are not forgotten, the auxiliary is collecting items to be shipped overseas. Winter items most urgently needed are hand and foot warmers, socks in dark colors, and AA batteries. Other items include small individually wrapped hard candies, cookies, and crackers, peanut butter and jelly in plastic bottles, drink powders, mouthwash, toothbrushes and toothpaste, disposable razors and shaving cream (nonaerosol), magazines, and puzzle books. A complete list of suggested supplies may be found at Walgreen’s stores in Waldwick, Wyckoff, Ramsey, and Oakland. Donations may be dropped off at the American Legion Post 57 located at 46 Franklin Turnpike in Waldwick after 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturday or after 1 p.m. on Sundays.
