Upper Saddle River
Traditional display features unique, hometown touches
This is the twelfth year that Bob Santomarco has put up a Christmas village in Upper Saddle River. There are roughly 300 houses and 1,000 people in this village. Each year, Santomarco tries to change the display as much as possible, and keeps over 100 houses in reserve for different scenes that he changes off each year. These items take up two rooms in his house. This year, a section of the village is dedicated to the Cavallini School, where his wife Paula has taught. Many photo faces were placed on the figurines to represent those who teach and work at the school. Part of the school display is a tribute to Principal Gene Solomon, who retired this year. Likenesses of Paula and Bob Santomarco and their daughters Tanya and Renee appear throughout the village in favorite spots. Top left: Cavallini School.
