Waldwick
The haunting beauty of the historic Waldwick Train Station, now undergoing extensive renovation, has been captured in photos by photographer Joanne DiStasi. “The photos are nothing short of amazing!” said Waldwick Community Alliance Vice President Doug Cowie. “Somehow this young woman was able to take the decay of this building and turn it into art. Everyone that sees these photos basically has the same reaction,” he added. The photographic collection will be on exhibit at the Waldwick Public Library from Sept. 8 through Oct. 31. An added benefit of the photo exhibit, Cowie said, is that it will raise awareness of the restoration project to those who may not otherwise be familiar. To promote the exhibit, “Things Forgotten…Things Remembered,” the WCA will host a “Gallery Opening Celebration” at the VFW post home on Hewson Avenue on Friday, Sept. 7 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The public is invited to come see the display and enjoy hors d’oeuvres, beverages, view the photos and meet the photographer. The photos will be on sale as well, with all proceeds going to the restoration project. For additional information visit waldwickcommunityalliance.org.
