This free program will begin at 2 p.m. The plot of this Shakespearean drama moves between King Leontes’ court in Sicilia and Bohemia. From the dramatic accusations in the high court of Sicilia, to the raucous and jovial Bohemian sheep-sheering festival, to the revelatory final scene, “The Winter’s Tale” celebrates the triumph of love, nobility, and all things good, and ends with a promise of rejuvenation, redemption, and hope. The Brusco family is sponsoring this program in memory of David J. Brusco, local resident and lifelong fan of Shakespeare. The event is arranged by the borough’s Lee Memorial Library and Laurie Byro, the poet laureate of Allendale. Seating is limited for this free program and advance reservations are required. John Paul ‘Bucky’ Pizzarelli, a life-long New Jersey resident and accomplished jazz guitarist, recently brought a crowd of 100 to its feet as he presented an intimate concert for residents and guests of The Allendale Community for Mature Living. Performing with fellow guitarist Ed Laub, the duo played jazz, swing, and big-band favorites that had attendees singing along. Pizzarelli is a member of the ASCAP Jazz Wall of Fame and New Jersey Hall of Fame and the recipient of the Mac Lifetime Achievement Award. Pizzarelli wows audience Art exhibit at USR Library ‘Sailing’ (continued from page 6) “The soul of Prokopenko’s work is in her walking that fine line between the transcendent and the ordinary,” said Margo Grant, director of the Museum of Russian Art. “Prokopenko has achieved sheer brilliance in her deft treatment of the tiny pieces in her micro-mosaics. What’s more is that it is done with a rainbow of majestic colors.” Sue Dymond of The Glass Craftsman describes viewing Prokopenko’s work as “basking in quiet brilliance.” Prokopenko’s next exhibit will be in September in New York City.
