Library director (continued from page 6) and I have many good relationships and friends here.” Acknowledging that she had announced her retirement quite early, Boyd said, “I felt I wanted to give the trustees a lot of lead time to search for a new director.” Asked to reflect on her service to the Waldwick Library, Boyd said, “It’s been very rewarding to get the passport program going. It’s a source of revenue for the library, but also a wonderful service for people in many towns in the area who can come on weekends and evenings and don’t have to take time off. “The English as a Second Language services started here after I arrived, and we added the monthly book discussion group, and many special events.” Boyd noted that she has particularly enjoyed hosting the actors from the American Historical Theater in Philadelphia. These actors provide interpretations of famous figures, including George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin, and Charles Lindbergh. Their appearances were funded by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities.
