Stewardship, West Bergen partner on housing effort
Through a sponsorship from Atlantic Stewardship Bank, West Bergen Mental Healthcare located in Ridgewood obtained $80,000 in grant funds from the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York to help build a supportive housing complex. The grant program is part of the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York’s Affordable Housing Program. Organizations with eligible housing projects can apply for grants through this program only if they have a member bank to sponsor them. Through this “independent living” project located in Ridgewood, West Bergen Mental Healthcare will provide affordable rental units for 10 individuals with special needs who are living on very low incomes. “Atlantic Stewardship Bank supports West Bergen Mental Healthcare in its mission to provide comprehensive
treatment and supportive services to the community. And, we are proud to have played a role in helping this housing project come to fruition,” said Atlantic Stewardship Bank President and CEO Paul Van Ostenbridge. In addition to sponsoring West Bergen Mental Healthcare in this grant process, Atlantic Stewardship Bank has included the organization as one of the beneficiaries of its tithing program. Under this unique program, Atlantic Stewardship gives back 10 percent of its pre-tax profits to Christian and local charitable organizations. To date, the bank’s total tithe donations exceed $7.3 million. Atlantic Stewardship Bank has 13 branches. Visit www. asbnow.com for additional information. Abbott & Caserta Realtors recently relased the first in a line of instructional videos for homeowners and buyers. This new “HELP” series was produced to assist sellers and buyers with the buying and selling process and to help them overcome the different obstacles they may face. The first DVD in this series, “HELP: My Home Didn’t Sell,” helps identify reasons a home may not have sold and provides a wealth of information and suggestions to achieve success. Robert Abbott, owner and co-founder of Abbott & Caserta Realtors, has been in the real estate business for over 30 years. He was asked why he thought there was a need for this type of video. “There are a multitude of homes listed on the market that don’t sell within their allotted period of time. Sellers

become frustrated and don’t understand why their home didn’t sell. The purpose of this video is to help sellers avoid common pitfalls when first listing their home and, therefore, have a much higher success rate,” Abbott explained. Sellers who previewed this DVD have said, “I wish our agent was this thorough in explaining these ideas from the start. We wouldn’t have wasted six months of our home being on the market with no results.” Another DVD viewer said, “This was such a great help to us – even before we put out house on the market. We knew all the pitfalls we could encounter and did what this said to do. Our home sold in just three weeks!” For a free copy of this DVD, contact Abbott & Caserta Realtors at (201) 447-6600 or home@njhouse.com.
