Curtis, whose work has been featured in “HOME” magazine and “New York Spaces,” will field questions about enhancing rooms following the presentation. On May 3, tree and shrub care manager Bob Malgieri of Borst Landscape Design will present “Pruning Pointers to Make You Look Like a Pro.” Discover how to cut back spring plants to encourage bountiful flowering and garden health and strength. Clothes Line Thrift Shop announces Saturday opening The Archer United Methodist Church’s Clothes Line Thrift Shop will have Satur- day hours on April 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in addition to its regular hours Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The shop now has a selection of spring and summer clothing for women, men, and children. Along with gently used and new clothing, the shop has household items, books, and toys that arrive on a daily basis. The Thrift shop will be closed May 3 and 4 in preparation for the sale set for May 5. Donations of gently used clothing and household items may be dropped off during the shop’s regular hours. Highlands offers EnCHANTments program Professional sopranos Renee SanterCadiou and Bonnie Laub, and Highlands Presbyterian Church organist Penny Martin will be featured in a one hour program, EnCHANTments, on Sunday, April 29 at 4 p.m. This program of stories and songs will explore favorite and familiar rhymes. Suitable for children and adults, the event will be held at Highlands Presbyterian Church, 270 Franklin Turnpike in Allendale. The program is open to the community. Donations of gently used furniture, small appliances, kitchen accessories, holiday items, linens, sporting goods, toys, bikes, lawn equipment, baby items, books, and other household goods are needed. These items may be dropped off between April 29 and May 3 at the church located at 37 East Allendale Avenue. Limited pickup service of large items will be available through May 2. The sale will be held May 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sale items will be spread throughout the church building, with each room showcasing different types of items. Fyke to host illustrator, Bird Walk Wildlife illustrator Alan Messer will present “Confessions of a Bird Artist: From Field Sketches to Published Works” at the Fyke Nature Association’s April 27 meeting. This monthly session will be held at 8 p.m. at the Allendale Municipal Building at 500 West Crescent Avenue in Allendale. Messer will present his scribbles, sketches, and studies that show the development of his personal work and commercial assignments from concept to completion. Fyke invites members of the community to its May 5 Bird Walk at the Celery Farm Natural Area on Franklin Turnpike in Allendale. Participants will meet at the end of Green Way at 8 a.m., and should bring binoculars. The walk will last approximately 90 minutes, and will be led by Jim Wright and his assistants. The program will feature alto sax artist Timothy Hayward with piano accompaniment. An accomplished performer, composer, and arranger who has achieved international acclaim, Hayward began playing professionally at 18. He has written works for a cappella choir, solo saxophone, solo instruments and piano, and big bands. He has created his own groups, including the Timothy Hayward Trio, the Timothy Hayward a Cappella Project, Timothy Hayward Quartet, and the Timothy Hayward “NYC Quartet.” These groups perform Hayward’s compositions regularly in France and in the United States. Hayward now co-leads New Jersey’s “One More Once Big Band.” His recently published “Songbook” brings together 121 of his jazz originals.
