Church seeks ‘treasures’ The Waldwick United Methodist Church is seeking donations for its Annual Attic Treasure Sale, which will be held April 27 and 28. All types of items are needed. Donations will be accepted April 24 through April 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church located at 25 Franklin Turnpike. Donation letters will be available. WEF sets Zumba Night, Garage Sale The Waldwick Education Foundation will sponsor a Zumba Night on April 20 at 7 p.m. in the middle school gym at 155 Wyckoff Avenue. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10. This mother/daughter event will feature six zumba instructors. On April 28 and 29, the foundation will hold a TownWide Garage Sale. For a $25 fee ($20 if received by April 21), participants will have their addresses included on the sale’s map and will receive a lawn marker. There will also be a special contest to win a gas grill. Maps listing sale locations and items will be available at the parking lot at borough hall, 63 Franklin Turnpike, the day of the sale. The map will also be on the foundation’s Facebook page. Building Blocks to hold Beefsteak Fundraiser Building Blocks Child Center of Waldwick will host its Second Annual Beefsteak Fundraiser on Saturday, April 21 at 6 p.m. The event will be held in the school gym at 136 Wyckoff Avenue in Waldwick. Tickets are $40 per person and include a beefsteak dinner with salad, french fries, beverage, ice cream, and coffee, and a “starter kit” with prize tickets. Association plans Golf Outing The Waldwick Baseball/Softball Association will host its Second Annual WBSA Golf Outing fundraiser on Wednesday, May 16 at the Black Bear Golf Course. A portion of the proceeds will benefit two scholarships that will awarded to graduating members of the high school’s baseball and softball teams in recognition of their achievements in sports and academics. Register for fall soccer Registration for the 2012 Waldwick Soccer Association’s fall recreational soccer program is under way. The deadline to register is May 15. The association welcomes Waldwick residents from incoming kindergarteners through high school students. Players in grades five and above participate in a travel program affiliated with the Northwest Bergen Soccer Association. Children in kindergarten through grade four are part of the in-town league. Forum School hosts Walk-a-Thon The Forum School, in partnership with Waldwick High School, will host a Walk-a-Thon on May 4 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. High school students will pair with Forum School students to walk a mile on the high school track. Participating students ask family, friends, and busi-

The Forum School is a not-for-profit, non-sectarian, state-approved day program serving students ages three through 16 who have neurologically-based developmental disabilities such as autistic spectrum disorder and ADD/ ADHD. Parents host Pasta Dinner & Cabaret Night The Waldwick Music Parents Association will host its Ninth Annual Pasta Dinner & Cabaret Night fundraiser from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 27 in the Waldwick High School cafeteria, 155 Wyckoff Avenue. Student musical groups will perform during the dinner, including the Waldwick High School and Middle School Jazz Band. The event includes an all-you-can-eat dinner, beverages, and desserts. Advance tickets will be available until April 24, and cost $10 for adults, an $8 for seniors and students. Children under age five will be admitted free. At the door, tickets will be $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Ticket orders may be left in the WMPA box in the high school/middle school office, or mailed to WMPA, 11 Dow Avenue, Waldwick, NJ 07463. All proceeds will benefit the performing arts programs at the middle and high schools and the WMPA Scholarship Fund. Operation Reassurance available The Waldwick Police Department’s Operation Reassurance program is one of the most successful in the area. This program is open to all Waldwick residents who are age 55 and older. The program requires the participant to call police headquarters by a prearranged time each day. If the individual fails to call, a communications officer will try to make contact with that person. If there is no answer, a police officer will be dispatched to check on the welfare of that person.
