The parents, Klaus and Jennie Zuidema, arrived with their six children; six other children were born in the United States. David started a garbage and septic tank pumping business in Midland Park in 1919, and was the first to use the brand new Marlow Mudhog Pump developed in the Midland Park plant on Godwin Avenue in 1938.
