Waldwick
The community last week rallied behind the family of Marine Staff Sergeant Joseph D’Augustine, a Waldwick High School graduate who died March 27 while serving in Afghanistan. Residents of all ages waiving U.S. flags, and trees bearing yellow ribbons lined the streets as the funeral procession made its way through town, past his home and WHS, where students expressed solidarity by dressing by grade and installing the sign shown below. Hundreds of mourners attended the funeral at Saint Luke’s Church on Wednesday. Below, a flag provided by local Waldwick business SJK Electric was draped on the Waldwick Train Station, where the Waldwick Community Alliance hopes to one day rebuild the monument that once graced the grounds of the station in memory of D’Augustine and the other brave members of the community who gave their lives for our country.
