Library announces schedule changes The ESL class held at the Glen Rock Public Library will not meet on Wednesday, Oct. 31. On Election Day, Nov. 6, the library will be closed. Club plans trip The Glen Rock Senior Citizens Club will travel to Villa Roma Resort in Callicoon, New York on Nov. 14. The day will feature luncheon and a musical tribute to veterans. Legion sells Entertainment Books Now through Dec. 15, the American Legion in Glen Rock will be selling the Entertainment 2013 coupon books for $30 each. Seniors plan meeting, events The Saint Catharine Association of Mature Parishioners will meet on Thursday, Nov. 8 in the church’s community hall at 905 Maple Avenue in Glen Rock. Internet safety program set “Keeping Your Family Safe: Your Kids, the Internet, and Social Networking” will be presented on Thursday, Nov. 1 at the Glen Rock Public Library.
Costa Rodis, president of Bergen IT, will help parents understand how to navigate the challenges and opportunities of new technologies. Rodis will offer tips on having conversations with children about sharing personal information on the Internet, setting limits and boundaries, and the realities of cyber bullying. Grad Ball 2013 Beefsteak set The Glen Rock High School Grad Ball 2013’s organizers will host The Lucky ‘13 Beefsteak Dinner & Auction on Saturday, Nov. 17. This event will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Saint Leon’s Orthodox Church at 12-61 Saddle River Road in Fair Lawn. This event is the Grad Ball’s primary fundraiser. Tickets are $65, and include hors d’oeuvres, dinner, dessert, wine and beer, and the auction. Reservations are recommended. ESL and computer classes available The Glen Rock Public Library’s ESL (English as a Second Language) conversation groups will meet every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Registration is not required, but participants should have basic English speaking ability. The library has planned a fall lineup of technology classes. Classes meet from 7 to 8 p.m., and registration may be completed by calling the library at (201) 670-3970. The following classes will be offered: Nov. 14, Excel; Nov. 28, PowerPoint; and Dec. 12, eReaders.

Sunday school classes offered The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Sunday School has begun. Children in pre-K through third grade attend children’s choir practice from 9:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. From 10 a.m. to 10:25 a.m., they attend Sunday school. Children must be three years old by Oct. 1 to attend. (continued from page 8) into a lake, which is what Graydon essentially is. “We have fought for an accessible pool...We don’t want to see the handicapped excluded, or short-changed, or drowned,” Ringel said. “Any council member who votes for Aronsohn’s Folly will be mocked and detested for generations.” Aronsohn, long an advocate of special needs access and education, winced as he thanked Ringel for her comments. The council voted to accept the $55,0000 Community Development Block Grant for some sort of eventual ramp. The proposals for different types of ramps are still under consideration. Ridgewood is expected to put up another $40,000 when the final plan is accepted. Two Ridgewood residents, Yishane Lee and Anne Loving, also made a Graydon proposal. They urged that the pool open at 10 a.m. during the weeks of operation so swimmers could maximize their enjoyment of the pool. “When you guys are spending money on other things, it can’t cost that much to keep the pool open at 10 a.m.,” Anne Loving said.
