Glen Rock Borough Administrator Lenora Benjamin said the county money would be used for better bathroom facilities at Children’s Park, which is located near the Glen Rock Arboretum and has access to parking from the Glen Rock Municipal Swimming Pool parking lot. “Right now, the bathrooms are anything but userfriendly,” Benjamin said last week. “This will enable us to complete the project we started last year to make the whole park handicapped-accessible.” The council also voted, in a separate resolution, to establish a bank account to be maintained with the Glen Rock Senior Citizen Housing Corporation. The group will provide $50,000 from surplus funds from the Glen Rock Senior Citizens Housing complex group, so the committee to study senior citizen housing may retain licensed architects and engineers. Those professionals will look into a possible plan for an additional senior citizen housing unit and evaluate all possible sites. At this point, the project is tentative. No sites or plans have been studied in detail, nor have any been introduced. The final hearing on an ordinance to authorize a $525,000 bond to pay for an upgrade to the police and emergency radio communication systems had to be postponed because the ordinance was not published with adequate time to make the vote legal. The proposed contract with Motorola would be part of a state program. Neighboring Ridgewood adopted a similar bond for $1 million for improved narrowband communications at the Ridgewood Village Council public meeting on the same night.
