Ridge School hosts Tag Sale Ridge School, located at 325 West Ridgewood Avenue in Ridgewood, will host a Tag Sale on Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sale items will include furniture, costume jewelry, clothing, toys, household goods, sporting equipment, electronics, books, baby gear, and more. Proceeds will benefit the Ridge Home and School Association. Santee debuts exhibit ‘Flowing Spirit’ Artist Robert Santee will present his debut exhibit, “Flowing Spirit,” at the Stable Art Gallery in Ridgewood during October. Santee, a student of Ridgewood Parks and Recreation and Chinese brush painting instructor Christal Chang, will display his paintings. A workshop and cultural celebration will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Stable Art Gallery. Santee and Chang will explain the technique of Chinese brush painting. Light refreshments will be served, and all are welcome. The Stable Art Gallery is located at 259 North Maple Avenue in Ridgewood. Register for fall classes Registration is under way for the new session of YWCA Bergen County programs. Classes will run from Oct. 28 through Dec. 23. Indian dance, and jazz. Zumba Toning is a calorie-burning cardio class that takes dance workouts to the next level. Cardio Strength Training, hardCORE Boxing and Bootcamp provide intense muscle and endurance building. Restorative Yoga provides a more relaxing approach to fitness, and Mommy & Me Pilates lets moms connect with their babies while regaining core strength and losing that post-pregnancy tummy. Kids Yoga for children ages seven through 12 encourages self-esteem while enhancing flexibility and strength and improving concentration. Zumbatomic for students seven through 12 lets kids crank up the music and have a blast with their friends while boosting coordination, energy levels, and confidence. Enrichment for afternoon kindergarteners helps develop pre-reading, pre-math, and socialization skills in a fun-filled environment. New Saturday classes for kids include Beginner Book Club, Science, and Art. The YWCA offers dozens of other fitness, wellness, and enrichment programs for those of all ages, and provides American Red Cross certified swim classes for swimmers at every level. Auxiliary hosts fashion benefit The Valley Hospital Auxiliary and L.K. Bennett will hold an in-store fashion event and champagne reception at The Shops at Riverside in Hackensack on Thursday, Oct. 25. Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. On display will be the company’s collection of dresses, shoes, and handbags that can be seen worn by Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge. A percentage of the sales from this event will benefit the auxiliary’s pledge to raise $1.5 million for the expansion of the Valley Hospital Breast Surgery Program and to support Valley Home Care’s Butterflies Program, a palliative and hospice care program for children. Open Mic Night to feature local talent Christ Episcopal Church in Ridgewood invites the community to an Open Mic Night on Saturday, Oct. 13. This evening of free music will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Great Hall at 105 Cottage Place. Beverages and snacks will be sold during the show. Proceeds will benefit the church’s

Gallery to mount Lisbin exhibit The Cottage Place Gallery will present “Susan Lisbin: Paintings” from Oct. 13 through Nov. 4 at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood. Lisbin has exhibited her work in numerous group shows throughout New Jersey, and has had solo shows in New York and New Jersey, most recently in the East Gallery at the Ben Shahn Galleries at William Paterson University. Temple hosts political cartoonist On Oct. 30, long-time Temple Israel member Jimmy Margulies will share his portfolio of nationally recognized cartoons from the last 20 years. The 7:30 p.m. program will be held at the temple located at 475 Grove Street. Margulies will present political commentary on some of the milestones of our times. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome. Over the years, the artist has received the prestigious National Headliner Award, The Fischetti Editorial Cartoon Competition, and The Berryman Award from The National Press Foundation of Washington, D.C. A 1973 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, he is proud to be on the blacklist of the National Rifle Association.
