Page 6 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • November 28, 2012 Ridgewood Village council introduces multiple bond ordinances The Ridgewood Village Council introduced $6 million worth of capital bond ordinances at the special council meeting on Nov. 16 and will hold the adoption hearings on Dec. 5. The three ordinances include $3,811,741 for the general capital improvements in Ridgewood; $1,900,000 for the Ridgewood Water Utility, which also covers customers in Glen Rock, Midland Park, and Wyckoff; and $32,900 for purchases for the parking utility. The largest item in the largest of the three ordinances would provide $1,300,000 for street resurfacing expected to last for 20 years. Trucks for street work, listed at $345,000, are expected to last for five years, and a new storm water collection and jet-vac, listed at $180,000, are expected to last five years. Dumpsters will cost $10,000. Other larger items include $143,164 for police body armor, $182,000 to improve Habernickel Park, $157,687 to acquire a backhoe and a pickup truck, and $140,000 to acquire a tub grinder for recycling at Lakewood Drive. A number of smaller items will cover routine replacement of mechanical devices. The water ordinance covers well treatment facility design and well rehabilitation at a cost of $1,553,000. Stand-by power generators would be bonded at $220,000, and construction equipment and vehicles are included at $95,000. Another item covers mapping and computer work at a cost of $32,000. The third and smallest bonded item of $32,900 covers replacement of parking meters and other mechanisms in Ridgewood’s metered parking program. J. KOSTER Throughout the month of December, the Stable Art Gallery will be presenting “Upstairs, Downstairs: Realism to Abstraction” by artist Janis Foley. Foley’s exhibit is presented in two styles. The upstairs portion of the show will highlight traditional style and include portraits, still lifes, and landscapes in mixed media, including watercolors, oils, pastels, and ink. The Gallery presents ‘Upstairs, Downstairs’ downstairs gallery will showcase more recent abstract and semi-abstract designs. These works reflect an emphasis on shapes and edges, textures and value patterns on a flat plane in oil, watercolor, collage, and acrylic. The Stable Art Gallery is located at 259 North Maple Avenue.
