Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • November 28, 2012 Glen Rock The Glen Rock Community School’s after school dance program, under the direction of Denise Piccino of Hawthorne, will present the ballet students and the Unicorne Dance Ensemble in the Annual Winter Ballet Concert on Saturday, Dec. 1. Performances will be held at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Glen Rock High School auditorium at 600 Harristown Road in Glen Rock. The students from the ballet program come from Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Hawthorne, Fair Lawn, Rochelle Park, and Wyckoff. The program will include “Winter” from “The Seasons” by Alexander Glazunov featuring alumna Ariel Woll of Glen Rock as Winter with Ice, Hail, and Sleet variations danced by students from the after school program and Lea Yoo of Ridgewood as the winter bird, the cardinal. The younger students of the ballet program will appear in “How Many Angels?” danced to “Simple Gifts” from “Appala- Ballet performance will aid hurricane victims chian Spring” by composer Aaron Copland. “The Emperor Waltz” by Johann Strauss brings a touch of Viennese elegance and the Tricorne Dance Ensemble will perform several dances from the Jane Austen period. The Tricorne dancers will join everyone in the “Yuletide Revels,” a medieval celebration of the season. In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the students of the ballet program would like to take part in helping others who were affected by this storm. There are a number of schools in the shore region that have yet to open. They are attending classes wherever they can find space. The local dance students will be collecting money to be donated to the New Jersey Education Association’s Hurricane Sandy Back to School Fund so schools and teachers can buy the supplies they need to reopen the schools. (Photo courtesy of Denise Piccino.) dents will also be collecting canned soups, tuna, and vegetables, pasta, dry cereal and powdered milk, soap, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. These items will be donated to the Center for Food Action in Englewood. Items may be dropped off at the Glen Rock High School auditorium lobby on Friday, Nov. 30 from 4 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets for the performances are $15 and may be purchased from the students or at the door.
