November 14, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 17 Glen Rock Roundup Grad Ball 2013 Beefsteak set The Glen Rock High School Grad Ball 2013’s organizers will host The Lucky ‘13 Beefsteak Dinner & Auction on Saturday, Nov. 17. This event will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Saint Leon’s Orthodox Church at 12-61 Saddle River Road in Fair Lawn. This event is the Grad Ball’s primary fundraiser. Tickets are $65, and include hors d’oeuvres, dinner, dessert, wine and beer, and the auction. Reservations are recommended. Legion sells Entertainment Books Now through Dec. 15, the American Legion in Glen Rock will be selling the Entertainment 2013 coupon books for $30 each. The book contains discount offers for dining out, travel, entertainment, and shopping. Proceeds from this fundraiser benefit the Veterans Home in Paramus. Call (201) 445-9238 to order a copy. Library delivers The Glen Rock Public Library offers free delivery of library materials to borough seniors who are housebound. The library will deliver and pick up books, movies, and other library items. Interested patrons may contact the reference librarian at (201) 670-3970 for details. ESL and computer classes available The Glen Rock Public Library’s ESL (English as a Second Language) conversation groups will meet every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Registration is not required, but participants should have basic English speaking ability. The library has planned a fall lineup of technology classes. Classes meet from 7 to 8 p.m., and registration may be completed by calling the library at (201) 670-3970. The following classes will be offered: Nov. 14, Excel; Nov. 28, PowerPoint; and Dec. 12, eReaders. The knitting group meets every Wednesday at 1 p.m. Anyone who is interested may drop by. The library is located at 315 Rock Road. Glen Rock TV has new website Glen Rock Television recently launched its new website: glenrocktv.com. The site features quick links to recent programming. This community resource televises government, education, and current event programs. The not-for-profit entity is run solely by volunteers from the community. Those who wish to become involved with GRTV may express their interest via the website. Volunteers are needed to tape council meetings and to assist with marketing, production, programming, and public relations. Glen Rock Television is aired on Cablevision Channel 77 and FiOS Channel 32. Senior services available Glen Rock senior and/or handicapped residents living alone, who are not capable of carrying their recyclables to the curb for pick-up, can now get help. The DPW will provide them with two covered containers, one for cans and plastic bottles and one for paper and cardboard. On collection days, see borough calendar, the DPW will do a special pick-up from the rear yard and return the containers to their location. Glen Rock maintains a roster of free or discount-priced activities for senior citizens, including bus rides to scheduled shopping trips on the commuter bus, and discount ticket books for taxicab rides. The Senior Citizen Advisory Committee meetings are a focal point where seniors can express their concerns, which are then brought before the Glen Rock Borough Council by Committee Chair Doris Ciaramella. Ciaramella regularly attends the night meeting of the council and advocates senior programs, causes and interests. Exhibitors sought The Glen Rock Library is looking for interesting, antique, artistic, whimsical, beautiful, and/or unique collections. The exhibits, which change monthly, are kept in the library’s three display cases. Placards identify the exhibitors. Collectors interested in sharing their cherished objects are invited to contact Sally at the library, (201) 6703970. Knitters meet at library Knitters have been congregating at the Glen Rock Library. People just whip out their projects, (crochet too) and attract other people to discuss projects, yarn and yarn sources. Formal instruction and help with projects with experienced knitters are held every Wednesday afternoon from 1 to 2 p.m. Take advantage of the company, experience, be stimulated to try a new project. Beginners are welcome. Library hosts Game Exchange The ongoing Jigsaw Puzzle Exchange located next to the Paperback Exchange at the front door of the library has proved to be so popular, it has been expanded to include games. Individuals who wish to donate an old board or card game to the Game Exchange may bring it to the library. Anyone can look through the stack of games and puzzles, and take one home or even play it in the library. Note: Staff members cannot guarantee that all the pieces will be there.
