Glen Rock November 7, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 3 Living memorial dedicated to Virginia James by John Koster Family and friends of Virginia James gathered at the front entrance of Glen Rock High School to remember her at the garden her husband David donated as a living memorial to his wife, who worked there for 35 years after she graduated with the Class of 1959. “I’m in my second year as principal of Glen Rock High School, so Ginny was here a lot longer than I was, but I would see her every morning as I came in and she made me feel as if I had always been here,” said Principal John Arlotta. “The front of the school was in need of some upkeep, so for Dave to create a garden in her memory was a win-win in a lot of aspects.” James was a member of Glen Rock High’s first graduating class, the same group that donated the front entrance flagpole to the school. She returned as an employee of the Glen Rock Board of Education 36 years ago and was a popular member of the support staff for three and a half decades. James worked for 34 years as a media technician (continued on page 21) Left: David James. Right: Pipers John McMullen, Michael Harley, Cecelia James, and Stephen James.
