On May 20, local musicians will present a Concert for Gavin, a benefit performance for Gavin Scimeca, the 18-month-old son of Bergen County residents Tony and Tara. Gavin was diagnosed with Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease shortly after he was born in 2010, and the doctors at New York Presbyterian have recommended a life-saving kidney transplant. With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant patients are unable to shoulder the financial burden of this procedure. The Children’s Organ Transplant Association is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for patients who need transplants. In Bergen County, volunteers are raising funds for transplant patients like Gavin. COTA is less than $2,000 away from its goal to raise $150,000. The upcoming performance will feature the Ramsey Wind Symphony, Northern Highlands Regional High School Wind Ensemble, and the Highland Voices. The concert will be held at 3 p.m. at Northern Highlands Regional High School, located at 298 Hillside Ave in Allendale. Concert tickets are $10. Students and senior citizens may purchase discounted tickets for $5 each. There is a maximum family rate of $20. Tickets will be sold only at the door. The afternoon’s program will feature “Overture to Candide” by Leonard Bernstein, “Trumpeter’s Lullaby” and “Bugler’s
