Chamber sets Spring Craft & Art Street Fair The Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the Ridgewood Spring Craft & Art Street Fair on Sunday, May 6. The fair will be held on East Ridgewood Avenue from noon to 5 p.m., rain or shine. Over 140 exhibitors from four states will be participating at the show with handmade items, fine photography, and original art. Some examples of the items to be seen are stained and painted glass, garden items, folk art, pottery, ceramics, florals, American Girl doll clothing, apparel for women and children, handcrafted jewelry, pet items, mosaics, quilts, handmade soaps and candles, fiber items, wood furniture, scarves, hats, and more. There will also be a large children’s area with pony rides, a petting zoo, games, and inflatables. A food court will be located in front of the park with a variety of festival foods. For more information about the fair, call (201) 666-1340. 140th Roast Beef Dinner set On May 12, the men will take over the kitchen at Ridgewood’s Old Paramus Reformed Church to prepare the 140th Annual Roast Beef Dinner. Seating is at 6 p.m. in the church’s barrier-free education building. A talent show with a variety of acts will follow dinner. The community is invited. Co-op holds Book Fair The Ridgewood Co-op will host a Book Fair May 8 through 10 in the East Room of the Ridgewood United Methodist Church at 100 Dayton Street in Ridgewood. Stock up on summer reading and more from 9 to 10 a.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. on May 8; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 9; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 10. Fendrock featured at gallery During the month of May, the Stable Art Gallery will present “Capturing Light in Still Life and Landscape,” and exhibit of Lillian Fendrock’s paintings. This award-winning artist’s work features the effect of light on her subjects. Whether painting indoors with the cool north light on still life, or painting outdoors with sunlight on the landscape, Fendrock captures luminosity, diffused light, reflected light, and highlight in her paintings. Fendrock studied at the Art Students League, The Parsons School of Design, and the Ridgewood Art Institute. Her life-long interest in fashion and her work as a draftperson have combined to shape her approach to painting. She has exhibited in juried shows in the area and is the recipient of many awards. The Stable Gallery, located at 259 North Maple Avenue, is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment. Church holds Giant Flea Market The Women’s Guild of Ridgewood’s historic Old Paramus Reformed Church will hold its annual Flea Market on Saturday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the church’s barrier-free Education Building at 660 East Glen Avenue. The event is open to the public. An array of decorative items, glassware, ceramics, furniture, books, jewelry, small appliances, household items, electronics, toys, baby items, and tools will be sold. Christ Church welcomes new rector Christ Episcopal Church will celebrate the institution of its fifteenth rector, The Reverend Gregory C. Lisby, on Saturday, May 12. The Rt. Rev. Mark Beckwith, Bishop, Diocese of Newark will preside over the event. A 3 p.m. worship service will be followed by the celebration in the Great Hall with a reception. Rummage Sale scheduled The Women’s Guild of Christ Church Ridgewood will hold a Rummage Sale on Friday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Great Hall of the church at 105 Cottage Place. The sale will feature household items, jewelry, attic treasures, appliances, books, toys, clothing, and plants. Hot dogs will be available for sale. Admission is free. Proceeds will benefit the guild’s outreach and scholarship programs. Summer Day Camp welcomes area residents The Ridgewood Summer Day Camp program has openings for non-residents. Camp will open on Tuesday, June 26 and run for six weeks through Friday, Aug. 3. Children entering grades one through six will enjoy arts and crafts, organized games, swimming, special events, and optional trips. Camp will be held at The Stable, Graydon Pool, Maple Park, Veteran’s Field, and Leuning Park from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The day camp registration fee for village children is $500 per child and includes two camp T-shirts and optional bus transportation. The non-resident cost is $675. Trips are optional with limited space; prices vary and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. All campers must possess a 2012 Graydon membership badge.
