Lenten services announced Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, located at the corner of Rock Road and Ackerman Avenue in Glen Rock, will hold its mid-week Lenten Services on Wednesday, March 28 at 7:45 p.m. in the sanctuary. Lent is a time of reflection and penitence in preparation for the celebration of Easter. This year’s theme is “Hymns of Lent.” Holy Communion is offered at each service. On Palm Sunday, April 1, the church will celebrate with a “Joyful Noise” contemporary service at 10:30 a.m. The service will begin with the outdoor distribution, blessing, and Procession of the Palms. The procession, which recalls Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem at the start of the last week of his life, will be led by a New Orleans jazz-style brass ensemble. During the worship service, there will be a dramatic reading of the Passion according to Saint Mark. At the conclusion of the service, worshippers will exit to the somber brass-led reflection of Holy Week in the New Orleans style. Communion will be celebrated. The Maundy Thursday Service of Holy Communion will be held at 8 p.m. on April 5 in the church sanctuary. As is tradition, the altar will be stripped of adornment. New date for chair yoga The Glen Rock Community School’s chair yoga program will begin March 28. Sessions will be held from 11 a.m. to noon and run for seven weeks. Chair yoga teaches basic yoga positions while partici- pants are seated. Participants may use the wall or chair for the basic standing postures that will be introduced. The class also includes appropriate breathing practices and meditation with movement. This easy yoga practice will help participants get the most out of relaxing in a chair or sitting at a desk or computer. The class helps those who prefer yoga without the up and down that floor yoga requires. This class will be taught by instructor Jill McConville and is appropriate for all levels. Participants should wear loose, comfortable clothing. The course fee is $56. Call (201) 389-5011 for registration information. The school is located at 600 Harristown Road in Glen Rock. Graydon (continued from page 3) not enjoy the pool, and one said it was too expensive. Asked what improvements should be made, 12 of the dropout members said the water quality needed to be improved, four said the bathrooms needed to be cleaner, three said waterfowl should be removed, three wanted more shade, two wanted additional chairs, two wanted an improved menu at the concession stand, and two wanted better quality sand. While the survey was taken seriously by the council, the water quality improvement at Graydon Pool after the installation of two aerators, the eviction of Canada geese and ducks, and the prohibition of food near the waterfront have also been cited as having greatly improved the water quality in the past few years.
